Well it was announced today insomniac has signed a 1 game deal with ea. It will be for the 360 and ps3. Sony owns rachet and clank as well as resistance, so it won't be one of those. They will also keep the rights to this new ip. Obvious a blow to sony. Nowhere near as big as the bungie loss to ms, but a loss nonetheless. Could Patcher finally be making a prediction that comes true? He said he believes exclusive titles will be a thing of the past. So what's everyones thoughts on this? And does anyone have any ideas what the new game will be?

I don't think they'll do exclusive games for 360, but they will still develop some exclusives for PS3, so maybe it's not that big a loss for Sony. I have no idea what the new game will be, but I'm extremely curious. Can't wait to see what they can do on a different platform other than Sony's.

If console exclusive do indeed become a thing of the past then there is no point to being gamer and all we will get is degenerate games that pander to audiences to make money.

I could expand more but seriously Patcher is all about profits, thats all that guy cares about.

Money is good but there is such a thing as selling out, do it because you want to Insomniac, not because Microsoft is secretly buying your soul out do destroy your identity.

Valve will never be the good guy until I see HL3 or even HL2 episode 3. Im guessing though we'll see something at e3. I wouldnt be too surprised to see L4D Collection for Ps3 as well.

Well there will be still some exclusives from 1st party studios. So there wil always be some exclusive titles.

I dont want to say Insomniac has sold out. They have been very loyal to Sony. Perhaps theyre feeling left out. GG has got huge funding by Sony as with other studios. I think the fact its a 1 game deal is very significant here. I think theyre actually shopping around for someone to either buy them or make a long term publishing deal. I think most people believe Sony will buy them and add them to their 1st party lineup. MS obviously would love them. They might be able to take over for Rare which failed miserably for MS.
It'll be very interesting to see where this goes.

Ubisoft gets a pass for being Gametap's biggest partner.


As for selling out, I always considered it to be a bigger sellout move for a 3rd party developer to sign exclusive deals with any of the big 3. You know there's some sort of compensation to the dev for being exclusive. We'll call it bribery lite. Plus, no matter how much worse your game is than others, people will know about it simply because it's an exclusive and people love to talk about exclusives. There's far more competition out there on the non-exclusive battleground, which requires developers to make their games stand out. From a gamer's perspective, exclusives are a disservice IMO.
