I've read some articles on the advantages/benefits of HDMI 2.1 but I still wanted to ask. For gaming and movie watching, what benefits does HDMI 2.1 bring?

HDMI 2.1 brings the following benefits, mostly stolen from DisplayPort...
4K120 or 240, 8K60 on a single cable at HDR colour.
It also brings Freesync support, so if you have an Xbox 1X and a TV/display with a compatible HDMI port, you can enjoy frame synchronization.
Also probably why NV dropped the requirement for their G-sync hardware bs and started supporting the VESA standard."Curiosity is the very basis of education and if you tell me that curiosity killed the cat, I say only that the cat died nobly." - Arnold Edinborough

Also if the movie is recorded in 24fps or 60 or whatever, it means the panel can sync to the output of the video better, if you have a player that supports such things."Curiosity is the very basis of education and if you tell me that curiosity killed the cat, I say only that the cat died nobly." - Arnold Edinborough
