Blu-ray to include portable movie files.

In a move that runs against what has always seemed to be a deep-seeded paranoia about piracy, Sony told Bloomberg today that they plan to start including portable files on Blu-ray DVDs to let users copy movies to laptops and other portable electronics.
That's a great use of the extra space on a Blu-ray disc. Not only do you get the HD version, but also a copy that you can put on your Laptop, PDA, iPod, etc.

Or even maybe, what rootkits are embedded? Sony "giving" something away like this so easily..?? Seems fishy.

Thats like MS saying, here have Windows Vista basic for free!*

If I had to guess I'd say the movies would probably be in a MP4 format and the file size would probably try and stay under 1gb. Why do I say this? because I think Sony would want to make it as easy as possible to view such movie's on a PSP.

VW.....take off the Tin-Foil hat . I'm kidding of course, be interesting to see how this turns out.

Im just sayin.. After all the work Sony has put into "locking down" the content on the disc, then they are going to hand out some content on the disc without protection?

          Honestly..

Edit : You got in a quick edit.. BAH!!..

But no. Im not really that worried about it. Neat idea, but again. Sony has a track record.

I would be shocked if Sony didn't cripple this in some way. Say they can only be transfered to a PSP or some other portable Sony device.

It's not like it's a new idea or anything for them. Just look at the PS1/PS2 titles that can't be played on your PS3.

I love the idea of it though.
