HD-DVD wins. Consider I'm a bluray fanboy when I say this. I'm guessing upon inserting a 50gb HD-DVD disc into player the firmware will autoupdate or have the option of updating? If not maybe not so sure about it.

            Still great news

I highly doubt that current players will be compatible with that media, even with firmware upgrade. Good thing for HD-DVD on the PC side, but this is still triple-layer and yet again BD has the edge here with dual-layer 50GB disk and upcoming 100GB quad-layer disks. Nice PR try by Toshiba.

TDK is already testing their 100GB quad-layer disks.

                Hit TV series will also
appear on HD DVD, including "Battlestar Galactica," "The Sopranos", and the
original episodes of "Star Trek," which have been digitally remastered.
Battlestar Galactica in HD , god i hope they mean the new ones

Oh man they would look incredible in HD

                at Star Trek too

Don't you think that they would have annouced it if it were compatible with current players?

Are there any HD-DVD threads where you don't feel the urge to come in and give your own personal commentary? Give it a rest already. You're a BD whore and we don't need you constantly giving your own take on all things HD-DVD (like you even have a clue anyway).

[edit] I don't see how current players would not work. All that's adjusted to read the different layers is the distance of the lens from the media (or the height of the lens) so it can be focused on the different layers. All that would be needed is a firmware upgrade to tell the floating lens assembly how to move (this is if the players don't already have the capability of reading three layers).

Don't like what I post, so why don't you and me to your ignore list. Toshiba also annouced a 45GB disk awhile ago. Yet again it is missing in action, so are those 50GB disks and most likely this will be vaporware . But hey believe what you want but I will not believe it untill I see it in action.

So you get burned by your own BS and the best you can do as a comeback is a persona attack?

Calling me a child with a statement like that is the definition of irony.

This particular instance didn't convience me you were a child.

I figured it out after reading your first or second post in the Home Theater forums.

Not to mention when you quoted TranCendenz you changed his name in the bolded quote to read "Tranny".

If that dosen't scream "I'M A IMMATURE BRAT!!" nothing does.
