Excellent Steve!

I did the same which as of late is a rarity with the new born and all.

Of coarse my morning was struck down with thick fog

Thx dude... The weather was actually calling for fog which it was when i woke up so i was looking forward to it, never done fog yet, but as soon as i got to the lake it had past. Tho i cant complain, sky and weather was awesome but a little chilly tho as the fall winds are coming in. There's a wrecked/grounded ship close to the shore which i was hoping to catch the fog pass through it so it would haunted or something... next time.

Great shots, imo you made the fog work well in those shots!

Shouldn't have shot it at such a wide aperture, took some of the people/boats out since the river was a cluster**** of people.

We're up at our cottage this weekend and I'm glad I decided to get up early Thursday morning as the rest of the week has been heavy clouds and rain.

This spot is 5 minutes from our place and one of my favorite spots to visit.

If you look closely in picture 1, you can see the moon

With the recent 600/610 debacle and all of the claims of warranty denials due to 'impact' damage, I'm personally done investing in the Nikon system.

Nikon has proven that they lack any type of business ethic and I can't see supporting a company that is so thoroughly lost its way with CS. Especially with there being so much competition.

Matter of fact, depending on how much damage the D610 does to my resale of my D600 value, will determine if I switch systems or not.

This may be my next camera...

They make good stuff. I'm also waiting on what Sony dishes out too.

We caught a glimpse of Sony's A7 camera series just a day ago, but the low-resolution image didn't exactly show much. Thankfully, Digicam Info has just posted two leaked press shots that reveal considerably more of the full-frame mirrorless shooters. The images support rumors of a built-in viewfinder and point to options of both a Zeiss-branded 35mm f/2.8 prime lens (above) and a 28-70mm f/3.5-5.6 standard zoom (after the break). Unfortunately, there's no photos from other angles to provide further clues. However, Sony Alpha Rumors now claims that the A7r's 36-megapixel sensor will omit the usual antialiasing filter for the sake of preserving detail, much like the Nikon D800E. If you still crave more info, you may not have long to wait -- Sony Japan has been teasing a camera launch on October 16th, which suggests that we could get the full scoop on the A7 in a matter of hours.

HA HA HA, you actually want to get resale out of your body? nobody think s that, bodys are losing game... always have been, if you have on to a body till after the next one comes out you are going to get hosed usually... There is nothing wrong with the D600 that the service recall/notice didn't address,.. they are essentially the same camera... Same goes for the SB900 vs Sb910... there is barely a difference, I've used both, both overheat(the are jumbo flashes at full power), its just on the 910 it reduces power before requiring a cool down, unfortunatly both are minor updates that were not able to be fixed with a simple firmware update.

and to think you are concerned about resale and you are looking into a pentax? hahaha, on a side note, my buddy had a 300 2.8 pentax lens for like 3 or 4 years and ended up selling it way more than what he paid for it, almost enough to get a nikon 300 2.8.

and to think you are concerned about resale and you are looking into a pentax? hahaha, on a side note, my buddy had a 300 2.8 pentax lens for like 3 or 4 years and ended up selling it way more than what he paid for it, almost enough to get a nikon 300 2.8.
Use your brain for a minute and evaluate this situation. Nikon Releases a rehash in under a year to stealth fix an issue with its current model. Upon the announcement of the 'new' model, the current model takes a hit in retail, which trickles down to resale of the current model. The day of the D610 release, the D600 drops a further $250(amazon currently selling the D600 body for $1654), again trickling down. All of this in under a year. This isn't about the natural progression of resale a body takes. This was accelerated. The D600 if not faulty still would be going for $2K, in 24months it still would be worth 90% of its initial release cost. Yes, bodies do take a hit but it's over the coarse of 3-4+ years, not in 10-11 months. These are higher end items and if you think for a minute that resale value doesn't play in to sales for people, you're sadly mistaken. If Nikon can't hold its resale because of shady business practices, people will gravitate towards a company that can.

                                              HAHAHAHA

That's bad ass and may be the bridge that replaces my dslr kit.

I wish it was 300-400mm though.

I've heard rumors of Panasonic and Fugi having a large sensor bridge up their sleeves. I think it's going to get interesting this next generation or two

                                                    His D600...

Sent to Nikon. Warranty has been deemed voided due to corrosion. And they want to charge $900 dollars to fix it.

I cant possible think of a time or place that corrosion could of occured in two months.

The D600 is a compact and lightweight camera that offers excellent cost performance. In addition to a new FX-format CMOS image sensor with an effective pixel count of 24.3-million pixels and the same EXPEED 3 image-processing engine built into high-end models, the D600 inherits a number of advanced features from its high-end cousins, including an optical viewfinder with frame coverage of 100%*2, a large and clear, 3.2-inch LCD monitor with a wide viewing angle for superior visibility, and the same dust- and water-resistance as the D800 and D800E. What's more, this single FX-format camera also offers support for the complete DX NIKKOR lens lineup for greater convenience with both still image shooting and movie recording. The D600 makes full use of its 24.3-million effective pixels with high-resolution, full-HD movie recording (1920 x 1080/30p). It is also equipped with the Multi-area mode Full-HD D-Movie function, which enables recording in either FX- or DX-based movie format for more creative imaging expression." Extremely fast response with high-speed continuous shooting at approximately 5.5 fps*, a power-up time of approximately 0.13 s*, and a shutter-release time lag of approximately 0.052 s*, as well as a virtual horizon feature showing not only horizontal tilt to the left or right (roll), but also forward and backward tilt (pitch; only the roll indicator is displayed in the viewfinder). Equipped with a built-in flash that covers the angle of view of a wide-angle 24-mm lens and has a guide number of approximately 12/39 (m/ft, ISO 100, 20°C/68°F). The built-in commander function enables wireless control over up to two groups of remote optional flash units with the built-in flash serving as the master flash. New Multi-Power Battery Pack MB-D14 (sold separately), which holds not only Rechargeable Li-ion Batteries EN-EL15, but also AA batteries (alkaline, lithium, Ni-MH) is available. A durable shutter unit that has passed testing for approximately 150,000 cycles, and supports a maximum shutter speed of 1/4000 s and flash sync speed of 1/200 s. The shutter is equipped with a monitor function that automatically checks for, and detects, errors between the specified shutter speed and actual shutter speed. A locking mechanism on the mode dial prevents accidental adjustment of the shooting. Operation has also been improved by positioning the mode dial on top of the release mode dial. Independent Picture Control and movie-record buttons make the camera easier to operate. A live view selector makes live view operation more convenient with smooth switching between live view photography and movie live view. Nikon's image browsing and editing software, ViewNX 2, is supplied with purchase." "TOKYO - Nikon Corporation is pleased to announce the release of the D610, its latest Nikon FX-format digital SLR camera. The D610 offers an effective pixel count of 24.3-million pixels, the superior rendering capability of the Nikon FX format, as well as the mobility of high-speed continuous shooting at approximately 6 fps*1. Despite its compact size and light weight, it is capable of the rich expression of tones, broad dynamic range, and low noise characteristics with shooting at high sensitivities expected of an FX-format camera. It also offers the beautiful blur characteristics, and superior image quality and rendering performance that challenges that of top end models like the D4, D800, and D800E. What's more, its compact and lightweight body is loaded with a number of features that give it excellent basic performance, including an optical viewfinder with frame coverage of approximately 100%, double SD memory card slots, top and rear covers made of magnesium alloy, and a function for recording time-lapse movies. It is also equipped with a new quiet continuous release mode that supports continuous shooting at approximately 3 fps*1. Its 39-point AF system supports certain acquisition and tracking of the intended subject, and the 9 most frequently used focus points at the center of the frame utilize cross-type sensors for greater accuracy. In addition, autofocusing is possible with lenses that have a combined maximum aperture of f/8 or faster using 7 focus points at the center of the frame (3 vertical and 5 horizontal; center focus point utilizes cross-type sensor), enabling highly precise autofocusing even when a super-telephoto NIKKOR lens is used with a teleconverter. The D610 is also equipped with a built-in flash that covers the angle of view of a wide-angle 24mm lens and has a guide number of approximately 12/39 (m/ft, ISO 100, 20°C/68°F). The built-in flash is equipped with a commander function that allows it to be used as a master flash able to wirelessly control the optional Speedlights SB-910 and SB-700 as remote units. This capability allows users to easily enjoy creative expression with varied lighting options. The D610 also offers users powerful support for their photography with excellent system expansion using a variety of accessories, including the Wireless Remote Controllers WR-R10 (transceiver) and WR-T10 (transmitter) for simple and enjoyable remote operation, and the Wireless Mobile Adapter WU-1b, which enables simple sharing of full-size images exhibiting the superior image quality of the D610 with a smart device*2 (all accessories sold separately). As a compact system that is easy to manage and use, the D610 is a Nikon FX-format model that a broad range of users, not just professional or advanced amateur photographers, will enjoy." www.nikon.com/news/2012/0913_dslr_01.htm nikon.com/news/2013/1008_dslr_01.htm _

Perhaps I jumped the gun and was a little moody when I replied, I don't flip my cameras, its not my mindset... I know when I buy something its instantly a losing game and don't care where it ends up... I use them and purchase them based off their performance and use them till I get my use out of them. I don't buy something with the mindset of reselling it. The D600 is still a very nice camera, I would still purchase one if it met my needs

As far as MR sea spray shoots near the ocean and now has a corroded camera... I don't know what could cause this.... I've dealt with enough people that I don't beleive his story fully, and did a google searched for "nikon d600 corrosion issue" and found no hits... I'm going to call that a one off or price of doing business near the ocean.

I'm not a fan boy, there are just some products that are not good, i've gone through 3 sb-600s... the SB-700's are much nicer(yet to have one fail, knock on wood), no need to buy the SB900/SB910 after I used them I didn't need the extra cost or power (i have studio strobes for that)
