                          yup
took me 6 or 7 trips going to watch him to get some decent shots..

i was pissed at those pics,
accidentally set my camera to auto iso without realizing ( scroll front wheel with iso button)
so it took those at iso 6400.
did an ok job at cleaning up the noise in raw conversion, but still, could have been so much sharper lol grr

i may stop by to see him tomorrow as i will be in the area him and his mate are in.

super harsh shadow, you might want to scrim your light for softer and more pleasent shadows

I'm thinking about selling the Sigma 70-200 OS. I just haven't used this focal length that much and don't see me using it too much.

If I sell it I'm going to pick up the Nikon 28 1.8G and 85 1.8G while on sale($100 off of each). I'll then sell the 24-85 kit lens being I'll have the primes(including my 50 1.8G already) covering that range. Put the $$$ towards a Nikon 300f/4 afs.

                                  My kit will then be.

                                  50 1.8G
                                  85 1.8G
                                  300 f/4
                                  70-300 VC

I may later on get the nikkor 180 f/2.8.

                                  I dunno though.

Can you guys recommend me a decent camera for normal use. I don't need a DSLR. I rarely take pictures. Cell phones has been our primary camera for awhile now. But for the occasional event, or dog pictures I'd like something that would take good low light pictures.

                                    Budget is $150.

If you just need a camera, then you're looking at basic point and shoots. Which is still better IQ than a camera phone, but given the convienance of camera phones, why bother with a basic point and shoot. If you rarely take photos, then a cellphone should do.

If not, then look for updated versions of these...

IDK, i still think a 150 ps camera will still get better results than most cell phone cameras... other than pic quality you need to think about zoom and movie settings...etc. The problem is that at this price point there is no clear winner unless there's something specific you're looking for. Ive used a nikon, panny, canon and a samsung and from these i tend to enjoy the samsumg and panny the most. They just seemed more well rounded.

Youll need to do your home work, look at the little things like zoom/focus accuracy when in movie mode, along muting audio when zooming. Theres a bunch of little things to look out for.

Nice. It be the camera I'd get if I were to go back to DX. It really works my nerves to see the same price WITHOUT the AA filter, yet the D800 get's the shaft on this and wants $200 more for the D800E version. Reminds me when the D5200 had better video features than the D7000. This is the way of the world I suppose.

I came pretty close to selling all my Nikon gear for the Sony RX1. I think the next version from Sony will get it right. Although I hear a full-frame mirrorless is on the way from Sony too, in the NEX form factor. Insane.

I always hear the book understanding exposure recommended
But I have not read it myself

                                                          Google is best
                                                          There's tons of websites
I usually check out all the videos from

Ive been fiddling with making some DIY gridded strip boxes.
going to finish it up and do some tests this evening, and il post some pics.

The creativity of this type of lighting is fantastic. Did a model shoot with some of these, i'll post them once i get a chance to edit them, and the mood set by simple lighting techniques like this is simply awesome. Going to be NSFW so i'll just guide you to them unless i get the green light and post on here.
