I can kind of see his point, a bunch of fan fiction is more known than his original work.

Ditto. The game took a niche Polish author and made his work a worldwide phenom... and he's salty about it.

Were the books really successful before the games? I feel like it's more a situation where the games brought attention to the books, which always made it weird the author was so salty about how he screwed himself out of royalties by assuming the games would fail. At least people were buying the books because of it, and now there's this show.

Still does seem odd that writers would sign on for a project where they hate the source material. I guess people have to make a living... But, still, you'd hope that maybe you could get people who were not so jaded.

Thinking about it, maybe they are messing with us and Liam is only in as a younger version of Geralt? Like a prequel sort of thing?

Possible…he’s younger than me, but still getting up there. A role like that would be hard on a guy near 60.

How bout her as female Geralt. So funtimes in the show can be as fun as the, um, games...

Full recast please, yes. Reboot it. Triss needs to be a redhead and hot. Also need Shani, please thanks.

This would be the ****ing best.

I can hear Jaskier now: "This is not the greatest Witcher in the world, no. This is just a tribute!"

    I’m actually okay with that.

    He’d be a greater witcher.

This. If those DC-supporters elect Darkseid again, it's going to be the end of democracy in this universe forever. Everyone please go out and vote!

Probably because at some point a Netflix exec had heard about The Witcher books and games. Some agent puts one guy in touch with another. There's revenue to be earned. So Netflix joins in with other companies who bid on the rights thinking it has some good brand association. But then once the deal is closed and the percentages are done being hammered out they just hire a guy to do a job without really caring about the source material.

It's a process over at Netflix. They crank out hundreds of these projects every year.

Best way to go about it if you hated it, leave quietly as possible. Wait 5-10 years and say how you disliked what they did.

Yup, they're going to Altered Carbon this one. It's going to be bad. I expect season 4 to have a much smaller budget, entirely filmed on green screen, etc.

Shows dead, Jim. Cavill was the only one keeping it alive.

It's no coincidence that he is announcing his departure only a ~week or so after all that insider stuff about the writers hating the source material. There's a quote from Cavill when The Witcher first began, about his commitment to staying with the show for its entirety, and he said sticking to the source material and being true to Andrei's vision was a critical aspect of Cavill's desire to be a part of the filming.

Honestly the show fell off quickly after S1. I had a hard time getting into S2, and I'm a Witcher fanboy. The writers blow, so it's kind of weird to see them making fun of/mocking the incredibly successful books and games..

There’s an interview somewhere with Beau DeMayo who worked on the first season of the Witcher and is now working for the MCU on the X-MEN ‘97 project. In the interview he goes on about how in the Witcher writing room it’s pretty clear they (the other writers and show runner) hate the Witcher from the books and games. They talked **** on it a lot. Going as far as to actively mock the source materials.

So, it sounds like Cavill wants out for the right reasons. Everyone working on the project thinks the Witcher source material is stupid.
Well that is dissappointing. I really liked the show.

Liam doesn't have the intense look in his eyes or the square jaw line to be Geralt.

But if the producers are going to cast him they should recast Ciri and Yennefer as well. Bring both women closer to the looks of the in-game characters.

    Do a whole reboot.

Not fully of course, no. But Cavill has the acting chops to make it watchable. The other guy doesn’t.

I read hes waiting for the 7000 radeons before taking the plunge.

    https://www.digitaltrends.com/comput...g-on-rtx-4090/

Henry Cavill had a viral moment early in the pandemic when a video showing The Witcher and Man of Steel actor building his own gaming PC started making the rounds. Digital Trends recently sat down with Cavill to talk about his upcoming film Enola Holmes 2, as well as get a status update on his gaming rig — and the actor is eyeing some big upgrades in the near future.

In particular, Cavill is looking at the RTX 4090, but he hasn’t quite settled on Nvidia’s new GPU yet. “I’m also waiting for the AMD cards to come out to see what they’re like in comparison to the Nvidia RTX 4090 … time will tell with the specs,”
He buys Radeon and itll be a nice 'plug' for AMD (pun intended)
