    Device brand loyalty? What kinds of devices do you own?

    Wife got me an Amazon-branded fitness watch (Amazon Halo). Talked to a friend who has an apple watch... Actually he just buys everything apple. Got me thinking about the brand-spread of my devices.

    Well geez, I've got:
    • MacBook for work, only apple device I use nowadays.
    • Windows PC for home computing and gaming.
    • Moto-branded Android phone
    • Amazon-branded tablet
    • Quest 2 headset branded by Facebook/Meta.
    • Steam Deck on pre-order.
    • also own basically every game console, so add those too.

    What does your device profile look like? Are you sticking to one brand, or spreading yourself around?

    ….I’m pretty brand agnostic most of the time, whatever seems the best balance of quality vs price at the moment.

    And if a brand goes sideways on me I’ll just try another…

      No specific device brand loyalty here, though the basics are all Microsoft or Google.

      Phone: Samsung / Android
      PC: Windows / Chrome
      Laptop: Windows / Chrome (work laptop, though it wouldn't have been anything else if I'd had a choice)
      Gaming: PC, Nintendo Switch, FB Oculus Quest 2. Sold my PS4 Pro this morning.
      TV: Chromecast

      No smartwatches or tablets in the household.

          Brand loyalty is for suckers. Although I guess I own a decent amount of Sony and Samsung stuff. But they just made the device that fit best at the time.

          Phone: Samsung S9 / Android. Use both Chrome & Firefox
          Desktop: Win10. Chrome/Firefox & Vivaldi. Custom build, see my specs.
          Laptop: Dell Latitude 7280. Win10 Chrome/Firefox. Next laptop will likely be either be Dell or Lenovo enterprise grade of the same size as my current. I MIGHT go for a Macbook just because my 7280 is working fine so then I would have both Apple and Windows devices.
          Tablet: Amazon FireHD 8". Google services all side loaded so I can use the playstore. Rarely use this device anymore though.
          Watch: Eyeing a Mobvoi Ticwatch Pro 3 Ultra
          Headphones: AudioTechnica ATH-M40FS, HiFiMan
          x Drop HE-5xx, Sony WF-1000XM3's and WH-XB900N's
          Monitor: Samsung CHG90 49" 32:9
          Consoles: Dreamcast, N64, GameCube, WiiU, PS3, PS4, Quest etc etc

          etc etc etc

          not speaking for all and if I am wrong I never said it.
          (plz note that is meant as a joke)

              Phone: Samsung note 9 - I'm not loyal to Samsung it's just that they're the only ones that make a phablet with a pen. It could be the last note I buy. I don't like the direction the line is headed.
              It's a surface: Surface duo 2 - A possible replacement for the Samsung note.
              Desktop/ Laptop: See sig. Samsung SSD/ WDBlack HDD/ Noctua Fan - These are 3 brands I prefer for components. I had all Seagate before. I don't really care for laptops.
              Tablet: Samsung Tab s3
              Watch: Galaxy watch 4, Gshock GW-S5600-1JF - Watch 4 is my first smartwatch. If Samsung continues to lead on the hardware front they'll have my money. I'm a fan of G-shock squares and that particular model is my favorite. It's a fancier version of the square beater watch.
              Headphone/Earphone: Sennheiser x Drop 6XX, IE8, IE80, IE80s BT and Truewireless 2. I won't be needing any wired earphones for while. Sennheiser
              is my go for audio but I'm open to whatever BT wireless.

                I don't really have that much stuff. But I guess I tend to stick with the same brand when I upgrade unless I had a bad experience.

                Phone: Xiaomi (Android). Same as previous.
                Desktop: Linux Mint. AMD GPUs and CPUs. Usually just look for deals, but I tend to favour Crucial for SSDs. G.Skill for RAM. Seagate for HDDs. Dell monitors.
                Laptop:: Linux. HP Pavillion (but it's ancient and barely worth mentioning).
                MicroPCs: I have two Zotac ZBoxes. I like the passively cooled ones. Unfortunately, both Intel (both have minor issues with Linux because of Intel).
                Headphones: Sony
                Speakers: Emotiva

                I've never been an AMD fanboy, but I've generally bought AMD because they were usually the better price-performance buy whenever I purchased. Now that I switched to Linux, AMD is something I'll actually seek out.

                I guess the one thing I am a fanboy on is Vivaldi. Use it on desktop, and on the smartphone. Use it for email (client and provider).

                      Its all about the technology and ecosystem for me save maybe for laptops, bit partial to lenovo, if I ever feel the need to buy one again that is. Currently only using 2 desktops.

                      Desktops are diy and usually amd but only because they were price perf at the time. Wouldnt be the case today.

                      Anything else electronic is price perf motivated. Its more about avoiding some brands than sticking to one or more brands for brand reasons. Ive bought 6 different brands of tv for example and 4 brands of cells.

                      Cars have been Toyotas but only due to reliability. Next one maybe a chinese hybrid/bev as they are half the price and some models review highly.

                        Bosch dish washer is awesome. Reliable and quiet.

                        Very happy with my Toto toilet also.

                        The subaru cars we now have are great. Best we have owned.

                        For electronics, whatever seems the best at the time. So far Samsung phones haven't done me wrong. Fewer hassles than some other brands I have used

                          I used to be an "everything Sony if I can" kind of person, but truth be told, much of their stuff haven't wowed me in quite a while. Last Sony product I got was a Sony X900e TV a couple years ago.

                          I currently not an entirely "brand loyal" person, but I have been going iPhone for the past two years.

                          Having said that, Samsung is really being the "next-gen Sony" I used to love. Expect to get a new TV and maybe phone+tablet from them next year.

                          Have a Dell monitor and custom desktop PC for work. Always wanted an XPS PC so maybe I'd go that route when I am more of a programming professional (will take extensive programming courses next February).

                            Actually now that you mention it, I have a particular loyalty to Sony's bluetooth headsets. Have a pair of their wireless earbuds and 2 pairs of their wireless over ear headphones.

                            Don't really care for Sony otherwise. Haven't owned a Playstation since PS3 thanks to the data breach way back then. Sony storing passwords in plaintext ruined that for me.

                                For phones, I chose apple. Works for the family and they actually get updates.

                                Everything else is up for grabs. Best prices and features when I need it is what I get.

                                Gun wise, I spread the love, but glocks are pretty sweet. Something about their simplicity and rock solid performance just makes them stand out to me.

                                      Phone = Apple
                                      Laptop = Apple
                                      Watch = Apple
                                      Buds = Apple
                                      Tablet = Apple
                                      Car = Ford

                                            Honestly, I have no brand "loyalty" for devices or companies. I'll always go for the best deal for the money/performance. As a recent example; I just left Criket (fu*k em) because of their attempt to force me to buy a new phone and moved over to Mint mobile (payed $45 for 6 months of service). Been using it since Friday and so far so good. The price I payed is limited to only 4GB roaming a month, but I don't do much with my phone when I'm roaming around other than stream pandora occasionally so I'm fine with that.

                                                Not really. I mean if I can get a brand or a generic at the same price I'll often go for the brand due to quality reasons, but as far as the brand I have no preference. Consequently I have devices from brands all over the place.

                                                My bottom line is that price/quality are more important than brand names to me. Maybe for a car sure I have preferences, but again due to quality. For example; Chevy, Ford, Chrysler, Dodge, are all well known brands...but they are also well known for making junk so I'd never buy one. I would buy Toyota, Honda, or Mazda as they are currently the quality kings in the vehicle world.

                                                Video card? Well, only two choices but I'd take either depending on price/performance (lol@price right now).

                                                Phones? Don't care. I even have some rather obscure brand but the phone has good specs and the price couldn't be beat ($300).

                                                Speakers/headphones? Don't care, whichever sound the best for the best price.

                                                Shoes? Don't care (though I avoid Nike now).

                                                Clothes? No preference.

                                                Food? Random.

                                                List goes on.

                                                    I like some of their guitars and history. I don't like the new owners/management. I have an old LP studio and would buy used, but never new.

                                                        Not really brand loyal to any real degree though I have a lot of ASUS and AMD stuff. The only brand I can't really stand to patronize is Nvidia at this point. My disgust with Intel has faded over time.

                                                        So it isn't so much I'm loyal to AMD, I just don't want anything to do with Nvidia. lol

                                                          Phone: Apple (I tried Android a few years ago and it was a terrible experience)

                                                          Tablet: Apple, but if I get another tablet it's probably going to be an Android, as iPads are terribly overpriced.

                                                          PC: Windows PC, and a Mac Mini for random little things
