So, I watched The Phenomenon. It was well done and narrated by the smooth jazz voice of Peter Coyote. It was more of a human interest piece. Eye witnesses seem to believe they saw objects of substance.

I know right, it was a good film, that compiles all the top beats. A fun and sometimes compelling watch.

Now J.J. Abrams out of the blue is coming out with a major documentary in August, which honestly is freaking scary.

When I ran the Star Wars Post six years ago, J.J. was the Hollywood boy that every studio wanted to revive projects. The only safe bet that they trusted.

Why and how does J.J. pick up a project like this documentary outta nowhere a year ago, to have it ready at the approximate time of this report (the bill in Congress wasn't passed yet) is I'm sure coincidental, but ****-all if it doesn't make me raise an eyebrow. Because ***IF the government wanted a Director to craft a documentary-type response, it would be J.J. Abrams or Speilberg. Without A DOUBT.

Good effort on analysis to try and determine range and altitude but I think he needs to revisit and address the claims that this object is due to the triangular aperture of some NVGs. This particular object is likely just that. Mick West did a good video explanation and while I think he's wrong on the "Go Fast" and "Gimbal" videos I think he is correct on this one. More likely to be commercial planes filmed through the aperture artifacting.

Yeah its not a perfect rock solid explanation, but I find it more plausible given how easy it is to recreate that triangle aperture artifact. Plus the strobing lights look a lot like airplane nighttime lights.

I watched a very entertaining Youtube video last night about the UFO phenomena, but this one has a great twist. It's a channel run by four of the worlds leading body language experts. All these guys have some serious bonafides, lots of written books, and decades of experience.

They do videos looking at the latest items in the news and the interviews of those involved. Really fun entertaining stuff. So in this episode, they took footage in the last few weeks from four Presidents. Their analysis is a hoot, and trust me a really enlightening watch.

Those really look like camera artifacts, specifically bears a strong resemblance to simply dust specs on the lens.

Something truly entering the atmosphere with that kind of luminosity would have been picked up by dozens, if not hundreds of other independent observatories.

Not to be a debbie downer I looked at his other videos as well. They are mostly satellites or space junk he's picking up. You can view the ISS the same way it looks there with a simple backyard telescope.

SETI, as a modern astronomical endeavor, dating to 1959 (first paper) and 1960 (first observation). Modern UFO sightings date to the late 1940s. Though superficially similar, the two fields in practice have had virtually nothing to do with one another. SETI usually requires a graduate degree in astronomy, and its scientists tend to disdain UFOers for requiring nothing more than a camera that takes blurry photos and a butterfly net in case a little green man appears.

However, the two camps may be moving closer together.

In the classic SETI paradigm, stars are observed for artificial signals. But this communication strategy has severe drawbacks from ET’s point of view. In order for it to succeed, ET would have to target each of potentially millions of promising nearby stars (including ours) continuously, and do so over potentially billions of years. Additionally, it would need to maintain a dedicated receiver for each target star to be certain not to miss a return message if and when it arrives. The cost of this strategy to ET in time, energy and materials would be immeasurable. Further, by announcing its presence to so many stars, it invites disaster should any civilization prove aggressive. Added to this is the problem of communicating with a target civilization of which it would know nothing. Perhaps the transmitting civilization communicates in color oscillations like a cuttlefish, while the recipient only understands bee-like waggles.

Building on the work of others, I have hypothesized that aliens would be better served by sending robotic probes. Relatively simple flyby probes might intermittently surveil nascent solar systems, for example, at 200-million-year intervals. Star systems with biogenic planets might be surveilled more often. Highly capable probes might be placed permanently in the vicinity of planets that have achieved multicellularity as indicated by their oxygen-rich atmospheres or other biosignatures.

Ravi Kumar Kopparapu, a research scientist in planetary studies at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center in Maryland, said he’s hoping that a number of things happen after the UAP report is released. Firstly, the scientific study of UAPs should not be a taboo anymore.

"We should remember our history. Scientists should be able to openly talk about the detailed needs for a scientific study," Kopparapu said.

Secondly, reliable data collection and availability are paramount.

"Without complete data, the scientific study of UAP will forever be a fringe topic. Snippets of edited videos are not reliable data, and nothing meaningful can be deduced from them," Kopparapu said. Ideally, what is needed is simultaneously collected data from different regions of the electromagnetic spectrum — optical, infrared and radio, for example.

"If there is such data available already, it would need to be analyzed by appropriate experts and scientists, making sure they have comprehensive data. There may be false positives, but that is the nature of science," Kopparapu added.

Lastly, Kopparapu said there should be a coordinated effort from interested scientists of different disciplines, such as atmospheric scientists, aerospace experts, physicists and experienced engineers/technicians. Combining their talents, they’ll need to look at the data to figure out the nature of this phenomenon.

"Again, removing the taboo will significantly propel forward this particular collaborative effort among scientists," Kopparapu said.

More important than the Pentagon report is the need to gather solid data that is shared with the scientific community, said Robert Powell, executive board member of the Scientific Coalition for UAP Studies (SCU). The group promotes and encourages the rigorous scientific examination of "anomalous phenomena" known around the world as UAPs and UFOs, among other terms, the organization’s website explains.

The SCU was founded in 2017 and its ranks include university professors, former NASA researchers, ex-defense industry employees, and individuals out of the tech industry.

Powell said the coalition has publicly called for the release of all unclassified data associated with UAPs held by the federal government without compromising national security sources and/or methods.

"In addition, we called for the publication of data and research results from various federal agencies in the public domain in order to promote the scientific research and analysis of UAP. We maintain this position and look forward to the release of additional data by the federal government," Powell said.

The message is clear that this phenomenon is real. That they need people, money, and resources to find out what they are.

It's a good first step, but I want the full report of the 141+ cases they have been studying in just the past couple of years.

This UFO story has some serious legs, because you can bet your fat ass, that there are going to be loads of leaks from Congress on the classified report.

9 out of the ~70 pages the committee got... and we go zero new footage or data. And thats 144 cases where only one had a prosaic explanation. Usually its 5% of cases that are unusual but we can see there must have been some curating of cases outside the ones the report used to get such a high rate of unexplainable cases in it.

I mean cmon cant they at least declassify some more flir or cellphone cockpit picts? The upside is the political and social sea change over the issue. And Project Blue Book 2 we will likely get out of it.

Erasing the stigma surrounding a serious discussion of UFOs was also the goal for lawmakers in 2020 when they passed legislation requiring the Pentagon and intelligence community to provide more information about these UFO encounters, details that have, until recently, largely remained shrouded in secrecy.

Requiring production of the upcoming UFO report was also one way lawmakers have signaled that they intend to use their oversight authority to ensure coordination among the agencies involved, sources told CNN last month.

"One of the functions of a course like this is that it forces actual coordination within the agencies and makes clear that Congress is actually serious about its oversight function and that there's going to be increased scrutiny along the way," a congressional aide said at the time. "Some of it is a product of getting the agencies to take the issue more seriously and trying to help get rid of the stigma surrounding it."
