Wait a few days.. weekend numbers always drop, and it take still Wednesday to see it increase again.. same happens with the death count. we had a large drop over the weekend, and yesterday, it increased a little today, but wait till tomorrow.. it's going to have a huge increase. This is because the statistics aren't being tracked properly over the weekend, and they spend Monday/Tuesday playing catch up. (look at the previous weekend on the graph, it shows the weekend drop)
I am not saying it isn't going down, but not as sharply as those graphs imply. They are also still having a shortage in testing kits still, so you can't get results if you don't have the tests.
I'm going to choose to remain cautiously optimistic that the impacts of the past few weeks of social distancing are simply starting to pay off.

They appear to be getting less worse for NYC.

Oh, don't get me wrong, I agree, and they are paying off, just not as quickly as it appears. Also, going forward we have to figure out how to keep a second wave peak from happening, which is going to be very difficult to stop if the stay at home orders get lifted to soon.
The next question is, what state is going to take the place of New York,? As it seems, one state gets it under control, only for another state to take it's place and have a huge outbreak. (many have issues stay in home orders, so hopefully it won't continue on that trend). Of course there are some states who still refuse to enact a stay at home order.

Media and experts everywhere screaming "So little testing is being done!". But maybe most people are just feeling healthy and OK and don't feel they need to go and get a test done, which would explain it?
Disclaimer:
I realize many who are feeling sick are unable to get tested for whatever reasons, but this "so little testing" thing doesn't seem to be about them, but rather about the number of tests performed, compared to the number of people in the general population in a country.

When the number of new cases per day starts going down, we should be 11ish days out from the peak of deaths per day (approximate length of an ICU treatment for COVID-19). The US's new case rate is now approaching a linear increase instead of an exponential one, which is a good sign, but I don't know if we have enough datapoints or if there's enough testing to be done to say with any confidence that we're overall on a downswing. Because of different regional rules to stop spreading, I'm sure there are some areas already past this peak, but I'm also sure that there are some that are still weeks out from it.
If we're actually seeing a leveling off in new cases now, in a week or so, if our number of new cases a day declines or stays stable with more testing per day being done, that point will probably be around the highest point in terms of deaths per day.

The doubling rate in WI is now only every 12 days. And that is with Madcity and Milwaukee having so many violate the stay safe orders. So we seems to be doing well. Or like Cali we may have already had it, who knows until they get the anti body tests up and running.
Anywho got the relief monies. and BAM is went to bills and I am on Amazon now looking for those Pioneer Andrew Jones speakers for my home theater

Seriously though, for people who are well off still working their normal jobs this money is best used pumped back into the economy right? Even though more rational, it defeats the purpose if it just goes into savings accounts.
Wife and I were going to give some to family members who are out of work, but they refused. They are doing OK with unemployment + the extra $600 they are getting for 4 months. So now we're probably going to try to use some of it buying from local small businesses that are struggling.

True that. I was remarking to my wife that this is like an Amazon wet dream. Put all of the retailers out of business for good, get people hooked on ordering their stuff from amazon (even when the scare eventually goes away), watch movies/tv from amazon, etc.

i had the heater but had to get all the piping and fittings
and of the 3 home depots around my house they were all packed with people and long lines to get in

Yes that's exactly what we are trying to avoid by using it at local small businesses. A local retro video game store I go to sometimes is really down in the dumps because of this. He had to close his shop but is selling out of his house through Facebook marketplace. I am going to try to buy some NES/SNES games from him. Also, my wife's cousin's restaurant has been closed for weeks but they are doing take out. Really good authentic Italian food. We're going to buy a week's worth of prepared meals. Stuff like that is what these stimulus packs are intended for and really can go a long way to helping the economy. Sadly most people aren't even thinking this way.
I imagine this means they're spending my $1200 on bullets for me as we speak.
