No, probably earlier in that week. Havent really had the luxury of being able to work from home.

havent been tested for it since I was never in any real danger, but I'm more or less sure that it was corona. Symptoms matched better then regular flu, and I know what it's like having the flu.

I'm good now though


Edit: Not setting foot outside of the apartment for almost two weeks is something I hope to avoid in the future.

Found dishwashing soap. Normally would wait til the bottle is practically empty but started looking at 1/2 inch left. 2 trips and a week ago the store had nothing but the fancy spray bottle version that I wasn't going to pay for. Got a bottle of Dawn Platinum.

I know there's a lot discussion on masks in the media, at the store today like around half the customers had them on, either surgical or homemade with only one person I saw that looked like a N95 but without that plastic doohicky. Store employees had no masks on but they all had gloves. It's interesting in that I sorta felt odd not to be wearing one myself. If masks become the super majority even with no official requirement for them I'd think people will start wearing them regardless. Keep in mind Houston's economy is like 1/3 medical and a lot of my neighbors are in that field.

but the masks i have been saving till now

i will put them in a ziploc on the dashboard in the AZ sun for a hour to disinfect
heat and UV should do it

I am glad that all of you are discovering the joys of disposable gloves. I have been using them regularly for years and keep a big glass bowl full of them on my kitchen counter.

Try them for handling raw meat, taking out the garbage, and cleaning the toilet. For jobs like the last one, they also keep the cleaning chemicals off of your hands.

Here is more information about the massive increase in cases in Louisiana. Some of that figure is a result of labs catching up with their backlog.

Louisiana confirmed a massive number of new coronavirus cases Thursday – 2,726, bringing the total statewide above 9,100 – as officials discovered a surge of new cases from previous days and warned the New Orleans region is still on track to run out of hospital beds and ventilators in the coming days.

While the state shattered its previous records for a single-day increase in new confirmed cases, officials cautioned the figures don’t accurately show the growth rate of the virus because of a backlog in tests that has broken through in recent days.

The number of new cases confirmed by the Louisiana Department of Health represents a 42% increase from Wednesday, and comes after two days of large spikes in confirmed cases.

Gov. John Bel Edwards called the increase Thursday “jarring,” but we warned people that the figure is so large not because the state necessarily saw 42% more people contract the virus in the past day, but because of delays in test results. He said the "logjam is breaking" and the state is now getting results from days ago or longer.

There are two main issues delaying the testing: Private labs are backed up all over the country, delaying results, and some labs in Louisiana are slow in getting their information to the state.

Rikers Island inmates offered $6 per hour to dig mass graves in NYC

A new report says New York City is offering prison inmates $6 an hour to dig mass graves amid the coronavirus pandemic.

New York has a worst-case scenario contingency plan for a plague, such as COVID-19, that would require Rikers Island inmates to dig mass graves for burying up to 51,000 bodies. The plan was drawn up in 2008 by the city’s Office of Chief Medical Examiner while Michael Bloomberg was mayor of NYC.

The Intercept reports the city is already offering Rikers Island prisoners $6 per hour and personal protective equipment (PPE) if they agree to help dig mass graves on nearby Hart Island, according to sources with knowledge of the offer. PPE, such as face masks, suggest they’d be dealing with bodies of COVID-19 victims.

i don't mind supporting hospitals and doctors
but they got all the masks and now they want all wipes and gloves

if some of us are essential services we still can't work if we can't get the supplies we need to work

China made half the world’s masks before the coronavirus emerged there, and it has expanded production nearly 12-fold since then. But it has claimed mask factory output for itself. Purchases and donations also brought China a big chunk of the world’s supply from elsewhere.

Peter Navarro, an adviser to President Trump on manufacturing and trade, contended on Fox Business last month that China had essentially taken over factories that make masks on behalf of American companies. Beijing, he said, had opted to “nationalize effectively 3M, our company.”

It is no different than telling some corporation to make respirators, but I guess that infringes on some peeps idea of "muh freedums."

It is also no different than going in and making sure states are not trying to out bid each other for vital life saving equipment. Paying 10x and 20x the original price of something is not right in a global emergency; someone who thinks first of profit and not saving lives is a person who deserves neither and I'm not ****ing joking.

If this is a war treat it as such and ensure those on the front lines are protected and supported. They're exposing themselves to great risk because they want to help others in their bones. Don't make them do it in trash bags, ski masks, and other ridiculousness. And, don't make state leaders swear fealty to you for it.... This whole ordeal is just SMFH..

You realize the 1 mil figure means 1 mil who were tested and were tested positive, but the real number of infected is orders of magnitude higher, right? Majority of infected people do not show any or just mild flu symptoms and hence will most likely never be tested until this is over and science will want to know real numbers by testing for antibodies in a population.

You do realize that deaths caused by the COVID-19 virus is also magnitudes higher too right? There are many being logged under other causes because they where never diagnosed with COVID-19, unless there is an autopsy, which is rarely done.

No I don't realize that it's magnitudes higher. I know some deaths happen to be outside the healthcare system and maybe some inside it go undiagnosed as well, but I trust once you are dying in a hospital on a ventilator you have got the test done already .

What I do realize is many healhcare system deaths are being filed under covid even with co-morbidities that were a significant contributor. Meaning these people were likely to die sooner rather than later. Especially in the elderly which happen to be a vast majority of cases.

In any case worrying about a 5% mortality rate based on the current number of positively tested is unfounded. I hope we can at least agree on that.
