What pisses me off to no end, is what's the skin on her Doc's back on this? She doesn't have to pay for it or even have to get off her ass at her home. She just needs to write a note and send Yaz to a testing center.

Seriously, like WTF? If you had your first patient that has known contact with four vectors of positively identified people, why wouldn't you want to send them to testing?

This is bizarro world, I'm fighting with doctors to have test when normally they have no problem dolling them out to make money.

I get that right now a lot of doctors are leaning away from prescribing Covid-19 tests simply because there just aren't enough for anyone to get tested unless they're already pretty critical, but I do wonder if our profit-motivated and driven healthcare system is avoiding recommending testing because on an individual case-by-case basis, the insurance company would prefer that it not be coronavirus right now so they can make profits in the margins (the people who have it, but aren't confirmed, and therefore potentially fall outside of what's covered by the government).

Virginia Health Department was shocked she wasn't included in the trace investigation three weeks ago. Says to go get tested.

Yaz's Doc won't approve of the test, saying she's getting over it or never had it.

If you have symptoms and may be infected but you are not having difficulties breathing, they feel that you are not in danger and ask that you just stay home and self isolate given the fact that you could potentially give it to others while out being tested. If your symptoms are mild and you have it, they are just going to prescribe self isolation so why risk more spread just to tell you to self isolate.

For people who compare flu mortality rates with COVID-19, and basically saying it's the same thing, it's really not. The flu is a known entity. COVID-19 is not. It's a completely new variable on the world stage which is why governments are reacting the way they are. Maybe in a year or two, once a vaccine is mass-produced, coronavirus outbreaks will not be as impactful on lives or livelihoods. As for the death rates, this graph is pretty telling.

Recieved another call from another one of my doctors. This is the specialist that has been looking after me for my MTHFR and POTS. He wants to check up and see if I was working at home yet.

He was not happy with my answers and think I am not taking this seriously enough. His primary practice is in MI and he noted the hospitals are already near max capacity and will be by the end of this week and that here in WI we are tracking about 2 weeks behind them. He said with my lack of immune system I should be staying at home if at all possible and not bowing to my work place demands.

I am not sure how to do that with out getting in trouble. I am the person that makes it possible for everyone else to be able to work from home.

I get to work from home some. I just need to do more. The updated mandate from the Gov makes it look like a person with a medical need can take paid time off from work with pay. I think I will be looking into that. Not sure as I think that might get me fired.

Any way I look at this I think I need to take this more serious.

Influenza vs covid is an oranges to oranges comparison in that we dont know the actual exposure rates for either. We'd need to test the entire population on a regular ongoing basis to know it.

But little doubt about the death rate save places like China, Iran and Russia.... It may be that some people dying of a similar pneumonia are being tallied as covid but they tally the annual number of such deaths and we are well above normal. We may have a lot more testing going forward when the tech which already exists and can get a result under an hour gets mass produced.

Next year and after we'll get a more accurate exposure rate when we can test people who dont develop symptoms. At least large samples of them.

The second half of the page shows new infections per day by country. I'm noticing in the South American countries they generally have a blast of new infections (people arriving from abroad?) and then it peters out, or goes steady-low. I'm hoping that this is evidence that warm weather reduces the R0 significantly.

Just remember in Italy their death rate from respiratory infection is 3.5 times the world average. So you can not take their numbers and expect the same results in the US or any other country. None the less it is very alarming.

One bright spot is in California. Their numbers are lower than expected/projected. I hope that trend keeps up for them.

Govs and employers in Canada are getting stupid trying to cover up the fact they dropped the ball on this thing after decades of warnings by scientists and experts.

They now put us on strict guidelines on how to manage clothes and shoes even tho its well known this is spread by touch and those infected breathing but not showing symptoms. I can see clothes as the virus can live for about 2-3 hours on it and sleeves can be touched on by hand. But shoes is a bit absurd.

My own facility hasnt tested anyone either patient, even those who died of lung related illness, or healthcare care workers. But god forbid I go home with the same shoes I worked in.

Now if we had bought into those machines that can render a result in about an hour we could routinely test patients and workers and isolated anyone testing positive... That would have been effective.

But a Chicago area nurse said she is not being given that option.

My wife’s best friend’s mom has all the symptoms now. She’s been tested but the results will take another day or two. She’s 84 years old and pretty frail. This will likely be it for her.

2-3 hours? I think that is just in aerosol form. Once it’s in a surface it’s a lot longer.

That is interesting thought because we do not sue people or our work places for bringing other sicknesses in that we catch. People do get very sick from those and can die as well. It is just not as public.

This isn't the flu. People need to stop comparing it to the flu. This is a hundred times worse than the flu. This is a form of SARS.
