I work in a school board, tech support for elementary schools. Officially off for 2 weeks (for now). Allows me to stay late and sleep in a bit as my kids are starting to be autonomous.

I've let the kids play a lot for the past 2 days (unplanned vacation) but I'm gonna have to start to look into home schooling more seriously... luckily, they are doing great at school, so it's just basically keep doing the books they have.

I'm dreading going to the supermarket tomorrow...

We've really not had any supply disruptions here. The markets are always crazy so there's really no difference there lol. About the only items in short supply that I've noticed are sugar and of course, TP.

That said, my wife's office just laid off an entire department, and it's the one she does billing for. My company is running at about 30% right now.

I wish people wouldn't make emotionally driven panic type decisions. Yes, it might get bad for a while, but reacting out of panic rarely ever helped any situation any where.

Just got back from the store, yes there are some bare shelves but 2 days ago there was no milk and eggs and today those things were about 50% stocked. Still no paper products though which is mystifying. I still got everything I needed plus an extra here and there like people should be doing.

It's really an odd feeling since the weather is nice and there's no broken infrastructure to indicate anything is wrong. The store was a bit more crowded for 2pm on a weekday though.

Same here. I stopped at a smaller grocery store about a block from home yesterday to try my luck there. They had stock of everything I needed such as meat, cereal, vegetables, OJ, etc. They were 100% out of milk. I have about 10 days of food in storage and freezer if needed as emergency supply, but otherwise have been hitting the stores every 2 days or so to keep up on normal stuff without taking everything they have at the time. I typically shop for a weeks worth on a normal visit.

Simon Property Group is closing all of their properties in the U.S., not just in Atlanta. That's a lot of people out of work.

Well, think of it like this... the people are wanting to buy enough so that they don't have to go into your potentially covid-infested store again for another couple of months. It doesn't have to be "panic" to make them want a lot of goods.

That said, all it takes is a single government order to make it impossible to go to the store at all... in that respect, I can't say I blame them.

Considering that Taiwan new about it in December and took action Dec. 31, and took the proper approach, I don't think your sentiment in your statement is accurate. China's first case of COVID19 was traced back to November 17 (traced back, aka NOT known). First person with symptoms was Dec. 1. I don't think there was any deliberate pushing it under the rug going on, as it all happened so fast, tried to contain it and not realizing it would escalate in the manner in which it did, specially globally. I guess what I am trying to say, is how was China or anyone supposed to predict where this would lead in such a short time?
