Up until a week ago, no one I knew personally had died from Covid. The 64 year old paternal papa of two of my grandkids finally succumbed after being ventilated in an induced coma for nearly two weeks. He was fit insofar as not being overweight, but he was diabetic and I'm told he didn't take good care of it.
I didn't know him well, but after 17 years of birthdays, programs, and ballgames, we were friendly.
Seems ironic after over two years of this sh1t.When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro.

My neighbors down the street were in their late 70s and still active. They both got Delta. It was the time before the booster started so they were vaxed early on and it was waning. They both died within 3 days of each other. In a way they were lucky because the hospital let them be in the same room together until the end. It’s horribly sad for all the people that died alone due to isolation..

This one is a preprint, but it covers another 'alternate cure': vitamin D.
Vitamin D Supplements for Prevention of Covid-19 or other Acute Respiratory Infections: a Phase 3 Randomized Controlled Trial (CORONAVIT) (pdf link)
ABSTRACT
BACKGROUND: Vitamin D metabolites support innate immune responses to severe
acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) and other respiratory
pathogens. Randomized controlled trials of vitamin D to prevent coronavirus disease
2019 (Covid-19) have not yet reported.
METHODS: We randomly assigned 6200 U.K. adults to receive an offer of a postal
finger-prick 25-hydroxyvitamin D (25[OH]D) test with provision of a 6-month supply of
higher-dose vitamin D (3200 IU/d, n=1550) or lower-dose vitamin D (800 IU/d,
n=1550) to those with blood 25(OH)D concentration <75 nmol/L, vs. no offer of
testing or supplementation (n=3100). The primary outcome was the proportion of
participants experiencing at least one swab test- or doctor-confirmed acute
respiratory infection (ARI) of any cause at six months. Secondary outcomes included
incidence of swab test-confirmed Covid-19.
RESULTS: Of 3100 participants offered testing, 2958 (95.4%accepted, and 2690
(86.8%) had 25(OH)D <75 nmol/L and were sent vitamin D supplements (1356
higher-dose, 1334 lower-dose). 76 (5.0%) vs. 87 (5.7%) vs. 136 (4.6%) participants
in higher-dose vs. lower-dose vs. no-offer groups experienced at least one ARI of
any cause (odds ratio [OR] for higher-dose vs. no-offer 1.09, 95% CI 0.82-1.46;
lower-dose vs. no-offer 1.26, 0.96-1.66). 45 (3.0%) vs. 55 (3.6%) vs. 78 (2.6%)
participants in higher-dose vs. lower-dose vs. no-offer groups developed Covid-19
(OR for higher-dose vs. no-offer 1.13, 0.78-1.63; lower-dose vs. no-offer 1.39, 0.98-
1.97).
CONCLUSIONS: Among adults with a high baseline prevalence of vitamin D
insufficiency, implementation of a test-and-treat approach to vitamin D replacement
did not reduce risk of all-cause ARI or Covid-19.

This compares cardiac complications from vaccination and infection across all age groups: Cardiac Complications After SARS-CoV-2 Infection and mRNA COVID-19 Vaccination — PCORnet, United States, January 2021–January 2022
There were some questions particularly about young males, which have the highest likelihood of myocarditis following vaccination. Turns out it doesn't matter the age group. Vaccination is safer:
Summary
What is already known about this topic?
Studies have found an increased risk for cardiac complications after SARS-CoV-2 infection and mRNA COVID-19 vaccination, but few have compared these risks.
What is added by this report?
Data from 40 health care systems participating in a large network found that the risk for cardiac complications was significantly higher after SARS-CoV-2 infection than after mRNA COVID-19 vaccination for both males and females in all age groups.
What are the implications for public health practice?
These findings support continued use of recommended mRNA COVID-19 vaccines among all eligible persons aged ≥5 years.
Even among males aged 12–17 years, the group with the highest incidence of cardiac complications after receipt of a second mRNA COVID-19 vaccine dose, the risk was 1.8–5.6 times as high after SARS-CoV-2 infection than after vaccination.

Last week one of my close friends went to the hospital, experiencing heart issues. Asymptomatic, she tested positive for Covid and they found that the infection had caused serious damage to her heart. Fortunately she pulled through, but left the hospital with a pacemaker installed.
Yesterday, another friend had his mom die from covid complications.

Daughter (11) had it last week (tested tuesday morning). She coughed a bit but nothing else. Had to take 1 day of my sick days left and 3 days of my remaining vacation days.
Theeeen my son (9) tested positive yesterday evening, so I have to take 3 of my remaining vacation days. He only has a runny nose, he feels great.
Both are double vaxxed which is probably why they have mild symptoms.
One of my friend had Delta over the Christmas vacation and is now on medical leave, heart problems, very tired, anxiety through the roofUsed to play 2-3 time hockey every week now can barely get to work and do the whole day... Not a variant my fat lazy ass would've liked to catch

This poster child of the anti-vax movement spent 8 months in the hospital, ended up with dual lung transplant, and is FINALLY going home this week. His wife, decided to be vaccinated and had a completely different outcome. He is lucky to be alive. His ignorance and arrogance almost killed him. He is not exactly an old guy either. He felt his fitness level would protect him and bought into the anti-vax misinformation. Almost a fatal mistake. His life will never be the same.

Well, one of the criteria is a judgement on whether they think you'll benefit. For example, if you're an unrepentant smoker, you're not getting a lung transplant. A heavy drinker that won't start going to AA to get off the booze is not getting a liver transplant as you'll just kill this one too.
If someone won't be vaccinated, it may weigh in on their judgements as item X may get 30 years of use on someone else and you might be dead in a year.A hobbiest foundry and forge in progress, plans, suppliers, showcasing ideas

Infectious viral load in unvaccinated and vaccinated individuals infected with ancestral, Delta or Omicron SARS-CoV-2
Abstract
Infectious viral load (VL) expelled as droplets and aerosols by infected individuals partly determines SARS-CoV-2 transmission. RNA VL measured by qRT-PCR is only a weak proxy for infectiousness. Studies on the kinetics of infectious VL are important to understand the mechanisms behind the different transmissibility of SARS-CoV-2 variants and the effect of vaccination on transmission, which allows to guide public health measures. In this study we quantified infectious VL in SARS-CoV-2 infected individuals during the first 5 symptomatic days by in vitro culturability assay in unvaccinated or vaccinated individuals infected with pre-variant of concern (pre-VOC) SARS-CoV-2, Delta, or Omicron. Unvaccinated individuals infected with pre-VOC SARS-CoV-2 had lower infectious VL compared to Delta-infected unvaccinated individuals. Full vaccination (defined as >2weeks after reception of 2nd dose during primary vaccination series) significantly reduced infectious VL for Delta breakthrough cases compared to unvaccinated individuals. For Omicron breakthrough cases, reduced infectious VL was only observed in boosted but not in fully vaccinated individuals compared to unvaccinated subjects. In addition, infectious VL was lower in fully vaccinated Omicron- compared to fully vaccinated Delta-infected individuals, suggesting that other mechanisms than increased infectious VL contribute to the high infectiousness of SARS-CoV-2 Omicron. Our findings indicate that vaccines may lower transmission risk and therefore have a public health benefit beyond the individual protection from severe disease.

So I have it as well... we're on week 3 of Covid in our house.
Yesterday felt like crap, I'm semi-ok today at least. One positive thing, my gf has to do everything in the house

All these posts on my LinkedIn showing people standing next to each other and doing events tells me that Covid is over and no one gives a damn crap about it.
Time to get back to work.
Oh no. I need flexibility because Covid is around.
People are such assholes. Screwing corporations these days. Then they complain about mental, emotional, work stress and blah blah blah.

And another conspiracy theory falls. It looks like antibody dependent enhancement can occur from infection. But is not a concern wtih vaccination.
FcγR-mediated SARS-CoV-2 infection of monocytes activates inflammation
Our findings, which implicate opsonizing antibodies in monocyte infection and inflammasome activation, suggest that antibodies may contribute to deleterious immune reactions associated with severe disease. FcγR-mediated monocyte infection is an example of antibody-mediated enhancement (ADE) of infection.
Nonetheless, overwhelming evidence shows that vaccine-generated neutralizing antibodies prevent infection and improve clinical outcome of breakthrough infections, suggesting that anti-spike antibodies are highly beneficial. Plasma from vaccinated individuals did not promote monocyte infection, indicating that ADE is not a concern with respect to vaccination.
