The SARS-CoV-2 infection determines the COVID-19 syndrome characterized, in the worst cases, by severe respiratory distress, pulmonary and cardiac fibrosis, inflammatory cytokine release, and immunosuppression. This condition has led to the death of about 2.15% of the total infected world population so far. Among survivors, the presence of the so-called persistent post-COVID-19 syndrome (PPCS) is a common finding. In COVID-19 survivors, PPCS presents one or more symptoms: fatigue, dyspnea, memory loss, sleep disorders, and difficulty concentrating. In this study, a cohort of 117 COVID-19 survivors (post-COVID-19) and 144 non-infected volunteers (COVID-19-free) was analyzed using pyrosequencing of defined CpG islands previously identified as suitable for biological age determination. The results show a consistent biological age increase in the post-COVID-19 population, determining a DeltaAge acceleration of 10.45 ± 7.29 years (+5.25 years above the range of normality) compared with 3.68 ± 8.17 years for the COVID-19-free population (p < 0.0001). A significant telomere shortening parallels this finding in the post-COVID-19 cohort compared with COVID-19-free subjects (p < 0.0001). Additionally, ACE2 expression was decreased in post-COVID-19 patients, compared with the COVID-19-free population, while DPP-4 did not change. In light of these observations, we hypothesize that some epigenetic alterations are associated with the post-COVID-19 condition, particularly in younger patients (< 60 years).

has anyone mixed and matched their shots? two shot moderna + pfizer booster (and vice versa), e.g.
i don't think i'll be getting the booster (got two shots of moderna). but, if i change my mind, or if the third shot is what they consider "fully vaccinated", then maybe i'll bite the bullet."World's First Analyst and Therapist: the Analrapist"

Lots of people in the UK and Canada mixed AstraZeneca with Pfizer/Moderna (which are basically interchangeable).

Im double shot with pfizer but around here it seems like theres moderna boosters aplenty but pfizer boosters are several weeks out and even then theres a line of people waiting for it. So its gonna take a miracle to even get a pfizer booster anytime soon...might just bite the bullet and just get a moderna booster.
I think i would have been be a bit more hesitant since moderna used a higer dosage normally (pfizer used 30mg ingredient for each shot, moderna i think was 100mg) but it seems like the moderna booster is 50mg, so i just want to know if its fine to mix and match.------Squachbox 2022------

Yes, it's fine to mix them. They're basically the same as far as your immune system is concerned.
Moderna is not recommended for younger men (~15-30) due to an elevated risk of heart inflammation, so that might explain why people want to avoid it. However, this caution does not to apply to females, or prepubescent and older males. I'm actually hoping for a Moderna booster (after two Pfizers), because Moderna's efficacy seems to be holding up better in the long term studies. I'd definitely go for a Moderna booster if you're over 30.My world is a world of concepts and principles, not a battlefield - "war" is simply the wrong metaphor for where I'm coming from.

From here:
What do we know about mRNA mixed (heterologous) vaccine schedules?
• The mechanism of action in both Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna mRNA vaccines is the same. Both use the pre-fusion conformation of the spike protein of the SARS-CoV-2 virus as the antigen. The spike protein encoded by either of the authorized mRNA vaccines is stabilized in the same manner, although other vaccine components like the lipid nanoparticle and the mRNA sequence may be different.
• During clinical trials, both mRNA vaccines (Pfizer-BioNTech, Moderna) demonstrated similar safety profiles and side effects (NACI).
• Both mRNA vaccines showed similar vaccine efficacy in clinical trials against symptomatic COVID-19 disease following the second dose, 95% and 94% respectively for Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna vaccines (NACI). Recent vaccine effectiveness estimates against symptomatic disease from Ontario have also demonstrated similar estimates of 91% and 94% respectively for Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna vaccines (Chung et al., 2021).
• There is no reason to believe that mRNA vaccine series completed with a different authorized mRNA vaccine product would result in any additional safety issues or reduction in immune protection against COVID-19 at this time (NACI).My world is a world of concepts and principles, not a battlefield - "war" is simply the wrong metaphor for where I'm coming from.

For me its nice to know that I am double vaxed and have my booster. Would my Rona be more severe then if I didn't have it? I dunno, but I am healthy as I am eating some popcorn and chocolate while I type this.
We have two anti-vaxxers at work and the owners wife just told them that myself and the owner have no symptoms but what if they were to get it. Plus they are smokers so double whammy.Intel Core i9 10900K @ 5.2GHz, Asus Maximus XII Apex, GSkill Trident-Z Royal DDR4 3200MHz 32GB CAS11, Asus Strix 3080Ti OC, Creative Labs SXFI Theater, Samsung 970 Evo Plus 1TB, Corsair AXI 1500i PSU, ThermalTake View 71, Corsair K95 Platinum RGB, Corsair Dark Core RGB SE, Acer Predator X34, Windows 10 Professional X64

Same has been the case for almost every vaccinated person I know that tested positive lately. Just very minor symptoms that clear up in about 5 days.
The unvaccinated people I know that got it however, not so good. The most severe case I know, one of my wife's friends was infected in mid December and is still sick. He had to go to the hospital for a week to be on oxygen. He's home now (they sent him home with oxygen tank) but is still not recovered. Its looking more like he caught the older strain (delta likely).

However, the booster does almost nothing vs Omicron. People are being lied to when it comes to the booster in regards to Omicron. Thankfully Omicron appears to be an even more effective vaccine as it seems like it's low risk and highly contagious.*There's still delta around though so if you are concerned about Covid don't get too cocky yet.
