Thanks buddy. If / when you catch it, may it be super mild for you

Mine felt like the worst flu I’ve ever had minus the runs and major chills, but I just found out today another team mate has it too, and he said it just feels like a minor head cold.

Who knows any more? Take the precautions we can take, hope for the best and deal with the rest I guess.

Sounds like Delta vs Omicron. They're both still out there even if Omicron is dominating.

Thanks guys. Woke up today without an incident. Kid was hungry so fed him. He seems recovered but you never know. My throat still hurts and I think I do have fever as every time I take a Panadol my whole body starts sweating after 30 mins. Hopefully in next 3-4 days this ordeal will be over. Still waiting for kid’s second test result. If it’s negative will ask my wife to get tested to see if she is in the clear. Elder son still coughing though but seems fine.

I think we got it through the maid that comes in our home as she was telling that all people in her company are sick as they had a Covid event 2 weeks ago. Mofos never informed us and now we are in a don’t care state and social distancing and still getting work done.

Hey KAC did any of you test positive? Or did you guys run into a nasty flu? Glad to hear everyone is on the mend.

My wife tested positive. Me and my 2 sons tested negative. Result of my youngest unvaccinated son of second Covid test that he took yesterday also came back negative.

My youngest is almost recovered. My throat pain is less. Wife is on and off. One minute she is dancing to songs and other she is in pain saying I can’t take this. Eldest has a fever now and is in worst shape than all of us.

Happy times. Thinking 4 more days of this bullshit and then we are done? I hope so!

Also isolation in case of Covid is a myth among family members.

Now that you think youve had it again, would you risk going on another vacation and possibly getting it again?

I ask because I see people on facebook get it and obviously make it through but now just do whatever cause they dont care.

That’s also my primaries thought, as well as my sis (also a doc) , basically “luck” of the draw.

Fever is down, but I woke with fairly high pain in abdominal area, hips, and lots of coughing today. Hopefully it’s on the way out.

My wife sees mostly “don’t care” from family and their friends. Like “We’re fine, so the whole thing is overblown” kind of don’t care.

I’m happy they didn’t die….but really would like if they never visit again. Ever.

Im just tired of it now and dont really care anymore.
Doesnt mean i wont let my guard down (gonna keep mask/sanitize/distance/avoid crowds and follow rules, etc), but im not going to get all paranoid about it.
And ill get the booster whenever i get around to it (hopefully sooner than later, im almost convinced its faster to walk into a clinic to get it now rather than book an appointment).

And if i do get it, so be it. Ill just hope its a mild case and nothing worse.

If that was aimed at me I did not get Covid on my vacation. First signs showed up due to maid company bullshit. We survived Covid. Another evidence of this is that all 3 of us who don’t interact with the maid don’t have it. Also the gestation period of omicron variant is not 7 days to test positive which is the first time we got a positive test for my wife. Plus maid showed signs of Covid same day as my wife which means she brought it into the house not the other way round.

So if you are taking a vacation in a safe place with stringent rules (like Switzerland) and also taking a ton of care (which we did, social distancing even when on tour buses, sanitizing ourselves after touching high touch surfaces, even sanitizing our gloves and jackets after tours etc, showing Covid certificates for dining in) then you should be fine. If you are going to US or France for vacation then yes, you will be ****ed and I won’t consider it even with these protocols because there will be enough assholes around you to get you ****ed.

And for me I will consider another vacation in a safe place only. My definition of safe is that daily reported cases are less than 5000 or so and 0.01% of population size of the city I am in. For example Zurich had the lowest incidence rate of Covid compared to even other Swiss cantons plus a much higher vaccinated populace compared to other cantons (I think 80%+ vaccinated vs total Swiss average of 65% when I visited).

Personally, vacations are probably the one thing I think is worth taking a risk on it. Right now, when cases are this high, no way. But when the numbers get more sane get your vax, wear a mask, and go relax on vacation. We are all going to go insane otherwise!

Haven't had it yet that I know of. Still going on boys weekend trip next week unless I have it before we go, and I'm still sick.

I'm over it. Vaxed, and boosted, so game on.

We went on three vacations this year, though one was cut short because we were going to visit friends in Florida who told us they'd been in close contact with people who tested positive the day before we were going to head their way. It was right as Delta was surging there. They didn't get sick, thankfully.

All were drive trips. Will continue to vacation because **** living in fear.

Spoiler'd because family drama. There was another time over the summer I went to pick up my sister who can't drive because of disabilities, five hour drive there and five hour drive back to bring her here for a visit. I pick her up and ten minutes into the drive, she can't stop coughing. WTF. She claims it's just a cold. I say, "let's do a rapid test". She refuses because if she tests positive she'll have to quarantine. Turned the car around and dropped her ass off back at her house. She probably didn't have COVID and I didn't get sick thereafter.

My brother and his wife have it, my other brother's fiance has it, my stepdaughter has it, the week of xmas my cousin and his gf got it, his stepmom got it, and my parents were recovering from it. I've lost track of how many friends I know have gotten it in the past few weeks.

I hope everyone who has it is recovering or feeling better. When I had it, the worst part was an inability to sleep or eat for 4-5 days. Like someone said above, I hate to think how it would have been without the vaccine.

Should be able to boost next week. I was just about to get mine when I got sick.

The new patent-free Corbavax vaccine sounds encouraging, especially for poorer countries.

Honestly, it's really going to depend on the person and the strain. I know people who got it without the vaccine who had either no symptoms or just a headache, and I know people who got it after they were vaxxed who had typical COVID symptoms like the majority of people did pre-vax. I mean ****, my mom still wound up in the hospital for 2 nights from Delta even with the vaccine, and my stepdad was out of commission for almost 2 weeks.

That seems like a really popular talking point among the right-wingers and anti-vaxxers, but looking at the stats vaccines are really putting a dent in the number of deaths and hospitalizations:

Unvaccinated 12-34 year-olds in Washington are

I know people who got it without the vaccine who had either no symptoms or just a headache, and I know people who got it after they were vaxxed who had typical COVID symptoms like the majority of people did pre-vax. I mean ****, my mom still wound up in the hospital for 2 nights from Delta even with the vaccine, and my stepdad was out of commission for almost 2 weeks.
Agreed. My coworker and I are good examples. He has minor head cold type symptoms, and I need to sit down after climbing a set of stairs in my house.

My company HR is being surprisingly supportive through it though, so that’s a big plus.

Finding a test to get back to work so my doctor can clear me? That’s another whole pain point right now.

I am still avoiding it right now. Hopefully my triple vax will make it mild too if I get it. But, this time of year is rough on my allergies so my upper respiratory is already a little messed up. So, I’d prefer to not roll the dice. Luckily I can work at home and have perfected the lock down to be bearable. Hopefully this peak is fast. My son is infected. He wouldn’t get the booster when I pleaded with him. He can’t work remotely and people brought it in and got him. Had a feeling he would be hit because he was starting the “I am tired of this thing” attitude. Luckily he is having a pretty mild time too. (Damn 20 year olds!)

Watching how people act today, I think just not giving a **** is now a major factor on whether you infect or get infected. Most people that are anti-max also fall into the can’t give a **** attitude too. The number of these people is large enough now to catch plenty of vaccinated people that do give a **** in the splash radius of the virus. That’s why the numbers are so high. Luckily with Omicron it’s pretty mild if you have any sort of immunities. But people with pre-existing conditions that make them more susceptible to dying are screwed right now.
