I remember when this thing started there were isolated cases of people just dropping. Took some time but it was learned that most of the younger, healthy deaths were caused by stroke via blood clot. The spiky nature of the virus just causes cells to stick to each other.

Drinking dehydrates you, and being dehydrated increases your chance of getting a blood clot.

One of the first stories that got my attention was the health industry (therapist?) worker in her late 30's, living in New Orleans. Last text to her boyfriend was that she was going to self medicate with liquor and next day they found her dead on the kitchen floor. She was otherwise healthy. There were a few others but when the cases started ramping up the focus changed.

I found out more info. Apparently he did have a pre-existing condition, one that he should have gone to hospital for. He had asthma. That would have made covid a real threat to him.

I got it after both doses but 2nd one was longer and more pronounced. Every time my heart misfires and I get extra beats I can feel it in my chest...if it happens long enough (usually very brief) I can feel a bit out of breath. It's something I may only feel a couple times a day but after the Moderna vaccines they happened anywhere from a dozen to maybe 20 times a day and lasted longer too.

I'm glad I was able to get the Moderna vaccine that I wanted especially after I see it seems to be the most effective one (what I suspected). I'm a little hesitant to get a 3rd dose after the heart issues though. Only time will tell how necessary it is

I think the vaccine issues are a bit overblown.

Mainly because the rate of the side effects occuring is VERY low. We have what several hundred millions of vaccines administered all over the world and we're seeing several thousand side effects, something like that?

I dont think its any different than other vaccines to be honest.

I think its just more pronounced now because of how rushed these things were to public so every little thing is being looked under the microscope.
Might also be cuz the side effects are pretty significant but then i dont know what kind of bad side effects can happen with other vaccines that we dont hear about, since they dont get reported. none of them are 100% safe

I guess what im saying is i wouldnt be too concerned about the side effects if it came down to either taking the shots or not.
i might be a bit more cautious or think about it more if ive had a history or some kind of history of health issues though.

Regardless people should be aware of ANY possible side effects.

My second shot is due on Saturday, I hope it's not as bad (or worse) than what my first shot did...Oh well, yolo.

That report still needs more review, but the article states that the vaccine is still doing its job.

It's keeping you out of the hospital.

Oh definitely, i just dont think we need to raise the panic flag every time a new side effect case pops up. It just makes it sound worse than it really is.

Some people feel the second shot more, some people felt the first shot more.

My arm was sore for a bit longer after the second shot than the first. But that's the extent of the side effects i got from the pfizer.

It was her political ideology and obedience to it that has her now in the hospital.

But we're trying to keep that junk out of this thread.

I dont hear about any other viruses mutating constantly like this....except the flu somewhat...but i dont think that is nearly as deadly to begin with so that doesnt matter.
I suspect that if we had today's genomic sequencing and testing capability back in 1918-1920, the influenza pandemic would probably look pretty similar. We just weren't able to see it then.

Viruses mutate - it's what they do to survive, and since we literally have tens of millions of active cases worldwide on any given day, any selective pressure that favours specific traits will be amplified. Shorter incubation period with heavier viral load (i.e. Delta variant) spreads it more easily? Well, that gets selected for. More likely to at least partially sidestep the widely available vaccines? That gets selected for too. Lasts longer in the environment to get around a mask? Probably on it's way.

This is going to be a years-long fight.

I think my wife might have it. She has a rash now. Went to the Dermatologist today, and she had no idea what it was. Took a sample to have tested.

Our state labs are backed up, so unless she has any other symptoms, no bother getting tested since she won't get results for two weeks, aside from a rapid test.

We're all vaccinated. I feel 100%, so do the kids.

Not all do, but the corona class virus always seem to find a way. Same with HIV, that mofo will mutate like crazy in the same host. That's why we still haven't found a vaccine for it.

See, you have the "it's just a cold", and the "black on black crime" all in one statement. The only thing that seems to bring this country together is an attack from a foreign foe. Seems like they're setting up for that now.

Haven't read the full paper yet, just the summary: https://www.medrxiv.org/content/10.1...795v1.full.pdf

The degree of highly-educated hesitancy is higher than I'd have thought, but does explain some things. The paper cites 50% of the reasons given to be about fear of unintended side effects, lack of testing, etc. They're too smart for they're own good.

Maybe once the government expresses confidence in the vaccines the PhDs of the world will get on board.

There has been much debate over how to get the unvaccinated to get their jabs — shame them, bribe them, persuade them, or treat them as victims of mis- and disinformation campaigns — but who, exactly, are these people? But according to a new paper by researchers from Carnegie Mellon University and the University of Pittsburgh, this does not paint the full picture. The researchers analysed more than 5 million survey responses by a range of different demographic details, and classed those people who would “probably” or “definitely” not choose to get vaccinated as “vaccine hesitant.”

In some respects the findings are as predicted — for example the paper finds that there is a strong correlation between counties with higher Trump support in the 2020 presidential election and higher hesitancy in the period January 2021 — May 2021.

But more surprising is the breakdown in vaccine hesitancy by level of education. It finds that the association between hesitancy and education level follows a U-shaped curve with the highest hesitancy among those least and most educated. People with a master’s degree had the least hesitancy, and the highest hesitancy was among those holding a Ph.D.

What’s more, the paper found that in the first five months of 2021, the largest decrease in hesitancy was among the least educated — those with a high school education or less. Meanwhile, hesitancy held constant in the most educated group; by May, those with Ph.Ds were the most hesitant group.

So not only are the most educated people most sceptical of taking the Covid vaccine, they are also the least likely the change their minds about it…

It's noticeably harder to breathe while wearing this thing. I put it on when I got out of my truck, and the walk into the store was brutal. I couldn't imagine wearing one of these all day. That would suck!

Your child will wait for another child to die," Jenkins said. "Your child will just not get on the ventilator, your child will be CareFlighted to Temple or Oklahoma City or wherever we can find them a bed, but they won't be getting one here unless one clears."

My theory is that a couple of highly controversial governors are waiting for this wave to die down on its own (like it did in India, and to lesser degree, the UK) and then who's the hero who preserved your freedoms and rightfully earned your vote?
