The region I work in has moved all food production workers into Phase 2, so I should get my first shot (or only depending on which vaccine is available) in the next 3-5 weeks. Maybe. If nothing goes wrong and there are no delays getting more.
That's actually not a bad timetable for the region - I'm 48 this year and in reasonably good health, all things considered, so otherwise I'd be last in line. Where I live they are still working on getting people ages 70+ vaccinated."When you find a big kettle of crazy, it's best not to stir it." - Dilbert's pointy hair boss

TORONTO -- Top doctors in Toronto, Peel Region and Ottawa are calling on the Ontario government to issue a provincewide stay-at-home order in an effort to control the surge of COVID-19 variants.
In the letter to Ontario’s Chief Medical Officer of Health, which is dated April 4, the doctors say that while they welcome the provincial shutdown, stronger measures are required to reverse the surge of infections.Quotes:

Other places in the world already are dealing with the more contagious variants being dominant, and they're also doing worse on the vaccine front.
On a side note, I feel bad for the poorer countries in the world, because they are going to be last in line to get the vaccine, and they'll also lack the resources to easily distribute it. I'm afraid for them the end is still a long way off.
That is also bad because it means there will be a continued population where the virus can continue to spread and potentially mutate into a form that evades the vaccines.

The best thing we can do world wide is to shut down air travel to those poor nations, until we can get them vaccinated as well. In the age of the internet there is no need for business travel to those areas, and if you want to visit family, well go for it. Can't come back until they're all clear. Sucks, but that's what it's going to take.

Still believe its fine as long as you are vaccinated, really doesn't matter though, people are still doing whatever the hell they want. Vacations are starting to happen again and a former coworker who did get COVID was traveling in the height of it, so I believe the no travel is out.
Also recently I have been hearing that you don't carry the virus if your vaccinated. Is this an old story or new?

Neighbor notified that the local Kroger was doing a walk-in covid vaccine this morning. No one called me back from the various wait lists I'm on so I checked it out for grins. There was only one pharmacist doing the shots so the whole process took 3 hours. 1st shot of Pfizer down, I get the impression 2nd will also be sorta walk-in as well though they have my info anyways. Only been 2 hours though I don't expect to feel anything since it is the first shot.

The results show strong evidence that the vaccines work against preventing all infections, including asymptomatic and pre-symptomatic infections..,,
The study looked at 3,950 health care personnel, first responders and other essential workers and required them to self-collect nasal swabs each week for PCR lab testing for 13 straight weeks, regardless of whether they had developed symptoms of illness.

Officials said multiple empty syringes were mistakenly used at a Central Virginia Kroger for people who thought they were receiving a COVID-19 vaccine.

I didn't even test positive so what I felt must have been the body reacting before the virus could take hold again, but some of the symptoms were the same as before and the same thing happened to my g/f around the same time. It would appear once you have had the virus that if you do get re-infected that you recover very quickly, at least in our cases."Ok to lose to opponent, must not lose to fear!"

It all happened so fast I wasn't even sure if I was truly sick or not, but I seem to be at low risk now.

Payn3d's post makes me want to feel something bad, I haven't had a vaccine in a while so I wouldn't know if I got air. Yeah if you read the article further there wasn't even saline, just air! I felt a pinch and that was it, 4 hours later and nothing.

Yeah, the 15 minute thing is pretty much just a precaution. The likelihood of having an adverse reaction if you haven't in the past had allergic reactions to vaccines is extremely low, like a few people out of a million. Overall it doesn't hurt to stick around just in case you start having a problem though.

The shoulder I got the shot in has an old injury which causes it to feel sore for no reason (well cold and wet will make it act up for sure) such that I don't really think about it. Before bed it was sore. This morning I woke up and it was still sore so definitely got something. It's not major, forgot about it while making breakfast and catching up here but if I think about it and start moving it around, definitely feel it.
Curious to hear about when you guys get the second shot. Mom was like what second shot, cleared her plans for 2 days expecting it to be bad.

What I'm curious about is do you still feel the pain from the shot if you had covid previously or is it more mild? Guess I'll find out when I get mine."Ok to lose to opponent, must not lose to fear!"

For reference, India just passed 100k cases a day for the first time a couple of days ago. That means the U.S and India, a country of over 1.3 billion people, are the only two nations in the world to cross that 'milestone.' We also did it with a quarter of their population...
We need not get complacent. We need not fly in on a military jet and prematurely declare "Mission Accomplished!" There is good vaccine news, there is a lot more light at the end of the tunnel, but... we just have to stick it out a bit longer so even more people needn't needlessly die or get sick.
Sadly, with how many people were here in Orlando for their pandemic vacations throwing all precautions to the wind, I don't think we've really seen the uptick from Spring Break / Easter travel unfold yet...| Fractal Design Define R5 | ASUS Crosshair VI Hero | AMD 5800x 3D w/ Noctua DH-15 | 16GB G.Skill Flare-X | Aorus 2080 Super Waterforce Edition | HP Omen 27i |

At this point I just want the second shot + two weeks so I am mostly immune. I figure then with still taking precautions like wearing a mask (low viral load even if I am exposed) I should be safe.
I've given up worrying about other people at this point besides my immediate family. It's become clear that some people aren't going to listen or take precautions, so they reap what they sow.
