Finally watched all of Vikings. The last two seasons were almost painfully bad, but we were determined to see it through.
If they’d not veered from history so much in those seasons, I think it would have been a lot better.

I'm still noodling on whether I liked the ending. I would have preferred for them to tie up a bit more about the villains, conspiracy, etc... areas where there was a ton of build-up and very little payoff. Still, the character arcs and philosophical narratives were brilliant and paid off well.
First season was good. Didn’t enjoy the second season as much. And no, just just because Matthew

Third season I liked. Not as much as the first season, but still good. Never actually watched the second season because of all the bad press... now that I have an HBO subscription for a bit, I should probably remedy that.

Not as good as s1 or s3 but worth a watch.

My wife was totally lost, so we've decided to watch the movie first, then come back to the show, so she can get up to speed.

I have been watching Stargate lately. On Season 4, just got done with the episode where Jack and Teal'c get stuck in space in the X301 interceptor.

Fun fact, previously in season 4 they introduced the character "Anise", she was a sexy Tok'ra that wore tight fitting clothing. She was brought into the show because of 7 of 9 in Voyager. The producers saw how Voyager's ratings made a huge increase due to 7 of 9, so they decided they wanted to do something like that. The actress they got to play Anise actually almost got the part of 7 of 9 but Jeri Ryan got the part. Anyways, after some episodes the producers noticed that that ratings didn't change due to her character, neither negative or positive, so they decided to just drop the character since he wasn't needed.

that is interesting and I did find her... arousing... but I don't recall seeing her that often, how can they guage her from only 2 episodes wtf... I think if they kept her and in tight outfits she would have been great... and loosen her up a bit from what I recall she was pretty stiff & cold....

Probably means Amazon will be losing all the star trek I watch on there soon, sucks everyone has a streaming service now and wants you to buy them all which makes it more and more like cable along with the price.

It's anti-cable... instead of one source for all content, it's many sources for a variety of content. Price is a factor of how much variety you want at any given time, not something you could do with cable at all because they wouldn't let you pick and choose and would just pass along price increases that you couldn't do anything about. If CBS all-access gets too expensive, you can stop subscribing. That's incentive for CBS to keep things under control to maximize revenue. Because of cable bundling, the providers were somewhat insulated from people walking away which encouraged regular price increases.

That said, read an article on Ars the other day suggesting that a lot of the smaller streaming "channels" (AMC, Stars, etc) will probably get folded into larger services as the infrastructure cost/revenue ratio is not great.

I guess it gives choice but price is not really all that much cheaper anymore if you need several to get what you want. I would even go as far to say that you probably get more from cable in that instance.

A single service probably provides more than you can watch at a time... you don't NEED it, so it comes down to how much you WANT.

I take the route of cycling between services, consuming what I want, then moving to others. At any given time, I have more stuff to watch than I have time to watch it. If I subscribed to absolutely everything I'd have the ABILITY to watch anything, but I still wouldn't be watching everything because I only have so much time in a week I'm willing to dedicate to TV.

With cable, that rotating service option wasn't possible because of their tiering strategy (as well as not having asynchronous streaming, so that you can watch things when you want them, month after the fact.)

All told it's better in my opinion. So far I haven't subscribed to CBS all-access or Apple TV, and Disney/Stars/HBO get subscribed and dropped periodically depending on what's on. Might eventually get to channels I don't currently watch when the content backlog becomes sufficiently compelling for me. But at least I don't have to pay for that content today while I have plenty of other things to watch like I would have with Premium tier cable.

If Netflix or Amazon bought/distributed it, the price of those subscriptions would end up rising just like your cable bill when they added new channels.

Im thinking I want to go and watch EVERYTHING. Like start with the original show and just work my way up to now.

I've been a fan of the movies but never have watched the shows.
If you managed to like picard, I really wonder what you'll think of the thoughtful, hopeful future presented in TNG...

I agree it does, Its Trek though and I will keep watching it but Picard really shows his age in his acting in this one, I thought they were going to change the direction of this show with how it ended but they didnt take what they shoould have done and run with it.

Yeah sadly Paramount will keep getting my money, even with Turd Trek.

He never could really tell me what he didn't like about the movies but that it "Didn't have the right feel of a true Star Trek film." Whatever that means.........
