Yeah, it's a good addition to what HBO already has, but it didn't add a whole lot in the grand scheme of things. Although it does look like this is just the start so there could be some good stuff down the line. Good to see Ghibli get a home though.

Eh, there's a lot of HBO shows that have weird episode numbers. The Rightous Gemstones was only 9 episodes, and the first season of Silicon Valley was 8. It was kinda rough, overall I liked it, but it was real hit and miss. The Air Lock episode was horrifying.

Finished Space Force. It had some funnies but largely a very poorly done show. The usual, gay friend, interracial sexual attraction, lesbians, open marriages and all the other crap you can throw in for a quintessential stupid show.

I give it a 1/10 for some funny jokes.

Space Force is unfortunately pretty Meh like I found Avenue 5 to be. Through 7 episodes so far, I guess the only interesting thing is why his wife is in prison as they never specifically stated what she did. I didn't think I saw anything about why she was in prison and I was correct as I just read a story about it.

About two episodes from finishing Space Force. I dunno I find the whole comedy genre to be generally meh so my expectations are at least one or two laughs per episode and this more or less delivers. I just watched FMA last month so that whole FMA vs FMA:B argument in the last episode I saw was enlightening.

Watching SpaceForce and all I can say is it is not as bad or insulting as I thought it would be. I laugh here and there. But I am enjoying Runaways much more. Already in Season 2 on that one.

Finished Space Force as well, I actually thought the last episode wasn't funny at all, too much setting up for another season.

Most of the way through the stop action Rilakkuma and Kaoru shorts (12 min episodes). It's actually a little boring but the show actually makes use of the surround channels than most TV shows, especially given its very short length. Yeah most of it is gimmicky but at least they thought of the rear channels; in most shots the front door is behind the camera and to the left and most knocks, the sound of the main character entering the building is from the rear left speaker. If a droning TV in the background is now behind the camera because two characters are having a conversation in front of the TV the droning TV goes to the rear channels. Going to finish this since it's so short but mainly because the creators actually thought of the sound space.

Me and the wife loved Ozark, if a bit unbelievable but very enjoyable and by end of the first series i couldn't get enough of it.

Were currently watching POWER, takes a couple of episodes to get into and the crappy music throughout is annoying, the 10 minutes an episode sex scenes get a bit tiring to watch but the story line seems to get better and better.

Anyone watched Billions? I love that show cant wait for the next season!

Finished watching 5 seasons of The Flash and it's my best series ever.

Almost done watching Arrow season 1 and it's pretty good so far. Much darker than The Flash, but sometimes not as fun. Still a damn great show IMO.

A long series of thoughts on the plot and primary motif. Don't open it if you haven't seen the series.


Does put into perspective the whole predestination/free will thing. Very God Emperor of Dune. and also brought to mind the biblical motif of humanity being gifted with "free will" as opposed to the angels... humanity's free will is the gift of not being able to see what will happen so that humans maintain the illusion of agency?

Nick Offerman's character dipped into that... "I say things because it occurs to me to want to say them"... so it's will, but it's not free once he thinks it's inevitable. Of course, they made a big deal about the multiverse being the correct model, but he still subscribed to an inherently deterministic attitude, which Lilly rejected. It gets back to his initial rejection of this mode of development, which was that you couldn't know you were looking at YOUR universe when you look in the screen. They all eventually bought into the idea that it was one and the same, except Lilly when she threw away the gun.

That said, she was still in a universe that was VERY LIKE that one that was being viewed, in that she still died and in a similar way, but it wasn't the exact one. She still had choices, because the precognition offered is a POSSIBLE/LIKELY future, not necessarily the one she'd experience. This ties back to the initial demonstration by Sergei, whereby the predictions eventually become useless and desync from reality. The truth seems to be that it's not that the predictions are bad, but it was predicting a different reality than the one they were actually in, but if the same start point can end in multiple possibilities, that says that the universe isn't deterministic at all, which is what they ultimately realized.
