Started watching The Rain (netflix) and it's pretty good so far as a YA post apocalyptic series. One thing I don't understand is how the rain works when there is moisture in the air or how people roam about when it looks like it could rain any minute. Maybe they'll explain that later. I'd be wearing a poncho 24/7 outside.
They never explain it but don't worry about it. just enjoy it for the ride.
Just finished S4 of Mr. Robot, perfect ending IMO.
Cool. I'm about halfway through s4.
I've been circling back and watching a couple old, long-since canceled shows.
One is Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip, Aaron Sorkin's ill-fated follow up to West Wing, that had much fanfare but barely made it through one season.
The other is Pitch, another one-season-wonder about the first woman player in Major League Baseball.
I love both of these shows but apparently many didn't.
Wtf have they done to Arrowverse? This season post crisis on infinite earth which was crap, now I have to watch all the other shows to keep up. Well they can screw that idea. I literally slept whilst watching Supergirl nonsensical drama.
Finished both seasons of Clanned and started Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic
Did not realize Magi was going to be so heavy, dealing with class warfare, slavery and more. Was looking for a fun show after Clanned but still enjoying it.
“Are you at all concerned, as Trump said, that we cannot let the cure be worse than the problem itself?” Haines asked.
Biden noted in his reply that the COVID-19 cure “will make the problem worse, no matter what.”
Started Dracula (Netflix) last night. Very slow so far as they build the plot lines, but well done. Seems to have the potential to be pretty creepy so far.
We started Messiah last night. Engaging and thought provoking 3 eps in..I dump a lot of Netflix series after an episode or 2, but I'll finish this one.
Just finished episode 8 of Watchmen... that was a fantastic episode.
Great implementation of the Maud'dib effect. Dr. Manhattan knows the future and is fatalistically unable to do anything BUT that, even though he had every opportunity. Trapped by his own omniscience. Ie. His belief that his death will play out a certain way causes him to make it play out that way.
Only question now is whether he wanted his death or just felt unable to change it. Barring any specific reveals in the final episode I'm going with the "lacks imagination" inevitability.

Avenue 5 on HBO. It's a space-based sitcom starring Hugh Laurie, Josh Gad, and Zach Woods. Rebecca Front, who plays disgruntled, no-nonsense passenger Karen Kelly, steals the show in ep1.
This was funny but I don't know if it was funny enough to justify the sh1t-ton they must be spending to produce it.
Just finished binging American Crime Story - The People vs. OJ Simpson (Netflix). What an amazingly well done docudrama! I was too young to pay attention to the trial back then and wasn't even sure what the verdict was (lol) until the final episode, so this was an eye opener for me and also kept me on the edge of my seat.

Started watching The Outsider on HBO, an adaptation of a pretty good Steven King novel. Through episode 2 now, and it's looking good.
Glad to see that Stephen King's books are finally getting the good directors, actors, and script writers they need. Looking forward to The Stand. I'll have to take a look at The Outsider. IIRC it's part of a loosely-connected series of books that started with Mr. Mercedes (which is also a TV series now).

Yeah I read those books too. The actress they picked for Holly Gibney is a bit of an adjustment. She does a good job with the mannerisms and whatnot, but a bit jarring to the head-space image of the character.
But I agree, studios are finally treating Stephen King's books more like serious dramas with supernatural elements, rather than monster movies and that's a good thing.
It's a good time to have novels adapted with all of the venues looking for original work. Very much looking forward to Sandman, Wheel of Time, and Dark Tower (hopefully better than the movie.)
Now someone needs to get on the phone and get Amber made into a series.... there's a universe ripe for viewing.

Hmm. Yeah, I gotta admit, the books don't give readers any indication of Holly's race, so I just assumed she was white. Guess it's natural for readers to envision a book character in their own race when there is no explicit racial description given.

The Kettering Incident. 4/10. I watched 6 out of 8 episodes and the plot kept going nowhere. None of the characters are very likable. It's a slow burn with lots of red herrings that doesn't really pick up steam. I finally gave up and read the summaries of ep 7 and 8 online. Glad I did. Absolutely no answers to the mysteries, and in fact more questions were raised. Most people were dissatisfied with the ending because it left everything set up for Season 2, which never happened.
Unless you like shows that don't have a satisfying ending, avoid this one.

After seeing the show, I was second-guessing what I had read myself. But it seems that she was described as white in the book after all. This is the show (specifically Jason Bateman apparently) deviating from the book, but apparently has Steven King's blessing.
Anyway, in Stephen King’s books, Holly is white. Richard Price, who adapted King’s novel, told Salon he followed suit, writing Holly’s parents as Lithuanian and making her father a coal miner. But Jason Bateman (who not only co-stars in The Outsider but directed the first two episodes and executive produced the series) insisted from day one that Erivo had to play Holly. God love him.
Price said at the HBO panel for the series at the Winter Television Critics Association Press Tour. "With King’s blessing, I made the character [of Holly Gibney, played by Cynthia Erivo] mine. I wanted to do my thing. Mr. Mercedes [the book or series] did not exist in the world of The Outsider. It’s just, 'Forget everything you knew about Holly.' I asked King to change her name to make more of a separation. The only directive he gave me was 'Just keep the name.'"
Addendum: She does a good enough job, and it's not an iconic-enough role, that I don't really mind. Through episode 4 now... quality remains high.

the messiah ... pretty interesting show -about half way through the season.
could someone explain why nobody tries to figure out how he walks on water ? Pretty frustrating to watch this specific episode where they are in Washington, DC. the cia lady seems like a person who would actually investigate that whole situation but they all kinda go about their business like it's whatever.

Watching Project Blue Book season 2. Pretty good so far. I'd say its on par with season 1 or slightly better.
Watching as well, didn't know it was coming back until I got a reminder on my TV a half hour before the season premier. Actually had forgot all about the show.

It was highly anticipated for me. I don't watch much TV though, this is like the only show I'm watching right now since finished the Witcher.
Was a nice surprise as I like my quality Sci-fi shows and this is one of those.
Quality is probably due to Robert Zemeckis producing, and History channel has been throwing a lot of money at the "Aliens" topic for years now. It really does well for them.
So I finished Dark s1 and s2. Good show overall. Second season is more cohesive (continuous?) but it also goes a bit whacky for me. Definitely hope we see a third season. **** BERTRAND.
