Easily number 2 in the bunch for me. Like Gravy said above, the cinematography is gorgeous, the acting and action is solid. Sequences with the predator were really well done too

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (2022) 7/10 - Awesome visuals and some cool scenes. Olsen is stunning. But all the magic crap is dumb and makes the fights just blah, even if the CGI is def top tier.

Not everyone posting different opinions than yours here are American. Keep in mind that you’ve scored some movies pretty highly that I can’t be bothered with. It’s personal preference for entertainment.

I kind of see where you're coming from. There's a handful of late 90s/2000s era movies that I have a soft spot for... It also comes with getting older and seeing things change. The rise of CGI... And now, with all the remakes we see (not sure when the remake era officially began), the whole thing is flipped on its head where they're trying to entice the 30-50+ year olds in with recognizable movie titles.

As with everything, vote with your wallet. Don't like what Disney is doing with star wars? Not a fan of remakes? Gender-swapped reboots? Don't give them one thin dime. Or if you do, obviously, then reward them. Change may not come overnight, but it will.

Bullet Train 6-10. Huge cast cool train setting and effects but I thought story fell pretty flat as did most of the gags. Guy Ritchie would have def given this a rewrite.

Absolutely agreed. I think the creators were big fans of the original. Overall very positive experience. The music and some of the shots were awesome. The CGI wasn't too intrusive. Loved all the call-backs to the classic one. Just a couple criticisms I have In the original, Billy is supposed to be the spiritual one who's in touch with nature. It would have been cool to have a scene parallel to Billy's scene where he faces predator. I thought it was really cool how they set up her ability to mask her heat signature, and I wish it was used more. Also it felt like they rushed into the final fight too quick. In the original, we get a decent length montage of Arnold preparing. Overall though surprisingly good.

He fires the shot knowing that he was the target but choosing to ignore it and knowing that the shot goes to target location. The lady was able to pull off its teeth like it was no one’s business whereas previously she was unable to grab a weapon from guys trying to man handle her. Like the whole fight was roll my eyes and kill your intelligence. I really don’t know if we saw the same movie. Guess the fan boy shades were on the whole time. Especially given the last movie was such a turd and these days it s all about skinny women beating the **** out of muscular men why not add this franchise to the list. Heck we did that with 2 terminator movies already. .

I think the producers were trying to walk a fine line here. They needed a powerful, deadly monster, but they needed to have it be defeated by very primitive weaponry.
They also went out of their way to show the predator testing the food chain, and showing that it preferred hand to hand combat vs always using it’s technology. It could have killed the bear without even closing in, but chose to fight it instead.

With Naru, she was a super competitive younger sibling, a bit jealous of her brothers recognition with the tribe. He’s also the one who probably taught her how to fight, so it’s no surprise she could handle herself well.

The predator had also been wounded multiple times before her battle with it, plus she had that benefit from the ‘medicine’. It couldn’t “see” her.

Having it just kill everything, be completely unstoppable would have been mind numbingly boring.



All that said, the predator wasn’t a perfect killing machine. It made some mistakes, which adds to the realism for me. Then again, a superior hunter warps in and hunts primitively armed people….not much there for realism to begin with lol

As always, turn brain off and enjoy the spectacle.

this is one of these very very rare occasions where i actually have to side with KAC. A lot in this movie didn't make any sense, even for a popcorn flic. I didn't enjoy it. Of course that's just personal taste. If you liked it, well, good for you, i guess. It got very mixed reviews though.

The last fight was weak. No doubt. I thought they rushed into it tbh. But in this movie, I feel like the last fight wasn’t really the point? It’s also hard to set up a realistic fight between a 100lb girl and a 7 foot probably 300lb alien. We almost knew what was going to happen. The point was to set up the environment and the characters and the predator. It’s not a perfect movie, but it’s a million times better and more creative than usual “summer blockbusters”. New Jurassic park makes This movie look like the shawshank redemption lol

can someone explain the significance of the skinned buffalo? Was it supposed to be that the French explorers took trophies from their kill, but also overdid the killing and didn’t keep a balance?

I (possibly wrong) took it as the brutality of the white man on display, and how they, for money (hides/horns etc) possibly destroyed the Comanche way of life for the tribe. Much less food and resources to be had.

Like I said, possibly wrong, but that’s how I read it.

yep, the white men came and slaughtered the buffalos for their hide/pelts. They had no interest in the meat, so they killed them and left them to rott in the sun. Because of that the buffalos nearly went extinct.
