Going to see in 3 hours. If Hapa criticizes it and gives it a 5/10 then it is an auto 7/10 for me.

Looks like the rotten tomatoes & meta critic scores are a bit low for a AAA marvel film. Looking at the metacritic reviews, they're all over the map. Lots of critics seem to really like the film, but some critics are giving it exceptionally low scores. Sounds like this one might be divisive... looks like it'll be great for a certain kind of audience though.

Dr. Strange Multiverse of Madness. 8.5/10. Good movie, lots of great characters, lots of fun multiverse stuff.

Pros:

• Wow, they went all out on making Wanda/Scarlet Witch a villian. It's pretty bold, and I kindof love it. There's room to bring her back to the good side later, but she'll never be the same... it'll always be pretty tenuous having her on the Avengers from here on out.
• Several interesting versions of Dr. Strange.
• American Chavez's character was suprisingly good. Looking forward to see where they take her next.

Cons:

• The Illuminati. Trailers make it look like a multi-universe committee, maybe they know something more about the larger multiverse struggles (Kang the Conquerer?). But nope, they're all just guys from 1 single alternate universe and they're all dead in 10 minutes. What a waste.
• There's actually less universe-hopping than I expected, and they spend the bulk of the middle of the film in a single alternate universe. It's not as crazy as I was hoping for. You'd expect the climax to include alot of crazy universe-hopping, or massive convergence between universes, but nothing like that happens... the ending is suitably cool, but not off-the-rails the way the title suggests, and so it's a little bit disapointing.
• There's a bit in the trailer where the evil version of Dr. Strange looks into the camera with a deranged look on his face and says "Things just got out of hand"... this scene is not in the movie.

Good review. I was also a bit disappointed in some parts but this movie kept my interest from start to finish which I can’t say for many things. Hence, why I gave it a dope af rating.

Ambulance - 6/10 pretty dumb and over directed. So much unnecessary camera movement and drone swoops. But the second half was better kinda? I watched it at a faster speed because it was just too long.

I'm a old comic book nerd so much of it was familiar to me. I really enjoyed it. It jumped around so much I can see where people could see it as a mess. But, if you're familiar at all with the material it's a blast.

It had so much potential to do alot of interesting things and it did none of it...

Felt the same way.

I'd give it a 7/10 and I'm being generous. It's not the worst. I'd say that it is closer to The Eternals than it is to Endgame.

Netflix needs to make The Many Colored Land into a series. Done right, it'd be huge.


Summary: A future in which some in the world have evolved metapsychic powers. Others dont, have misgivings about the whole alien contact thing, etc
Criminals, people that long for "the old ways", social misfit that don't fit in with modern society are given the choice to use a one-way time portal back to the Pliocene, assuming sterilization non-operant metapsychic levels, and basically allowed to live out their days in a time period they can't really **** up.

Turns out there's an alien race (also psychic) living on earth back then which start capturing and enslaving all of the humans as they keep coming through.

Great characters. great story.
