well, it wasn't exactly oscar-worthy, but it wasn't bad either. Of course not everyone will like/love it. Especially hardcore-fans might not like it, but for me it was ok.

        Lost City . . . 6/10

Saw at nearby theater w/ wifey. Amalgam of romcom + adventure. Decent popcorn movie. They show Channing's cheeks but not Bullocks' buttocks.

        +1 Brad Pitt
        +1 D'avine Joy Randolf

The Cat Returns 7/10. I like cats and this was a short animated film that I found on HBOMax. A simple adventure story though it is 20 years old so the animation is dated but well done by studio Ghibli

I finally made myself sit through the whole film this year, for the first time in my life. I've seen segments of it many times, and I've probably seen every part. I don't think it was the directors cut though... I think I went on youtube afterward and watched a video that showed all the differences.

Sonic the Hedgehog 2. 7/10. Rides the line between good & mediocre, but there's lots of fun & memorable moments, and Jim Carrey is as great as expected. Nice to see Tails & Knuckles included.

I sortof have mixed feelings on this one. Like the 1st movie, it's sortof 2 different films taped together, with one half feeling more like a full AAA production, and the more terrestrial half feeling very low budget. But the 2nd film loses a bit of that underdog charm... you went into the 1st movie with very low expectations, and it felt like a triumph that they were willing to make it work on that budget at all. The 2nd one feels like it should have been a bit more grand overall.

For the 3rd film, I think they need to leave Earth behind completely. They should take James Marsden and maybe a couple of other human characters with them, to an alien planet that feels more like the video game. Bring back Jim Carrey again, but make it so that he has already conquered the alien planet and the heroes have to re-take it. Sonic just doesn't feel quite right in regular earth environments or small towns... I think the parts of these films that work the best are the city sequences, as somehow those feel more true to the source material.

JOKER (2019) 8/10 great. Phoenix is so good in practically everything and again here.

Predators (2010) 8/10 underrated entry in the franchise doesn't get anywhere near the credit it deserves [REWATCH]

People seem to like The Amazing Spider-man the most but I actually think 2 is a better movie and I'd say the 2nd is worth watching. Still not as good as the OG 1+2 with Tobey.

                                                                    Parallel Mothers

This one got an Oscar nomination for Penelope Cruz. It's a Spanish movie, so subtitles.

It's kind of a weird movie. It was mostly okay. But it felt like a few ideas thrown together, so parts of it felt out of place.

It's mainly about two mothers that give birth on the same day. At first it seems like it's going to be about how they struggle to raise their children as single mothers. But then it ends up going into a bit of a thriller/drama direction over the parentage of the babies. Then it takes an out-of-place turn into a lesbian romance. And, mainly at the beginning and the end, it brings up some historical war/mass grave thing. All the ideas didn't really connect for me. At times it felt like a different movie.

                                                                    Comment

Meh, Robert Pattinson looks like a neanderthal with a birth defect and perpetually bad breath. He'd be a good Robin I guess. Nothing new here,, adding nothing to the plethora of other Batman incarnations. Glad I didn't waste money in a theater. Good makeup job on Colin Farrell though.
