It was on cable so no boobies on the local TCM channel. I really didn’t like it that much. Might be also because I started on it a bit late (25 mins or so had past). Think I spoiled the 2021 movie by watching this.

Which one did you watch? The 2000 Sci-Fi mini series was, storywise, very good despite having a budget of about $50. (I mean seriously, same era video games looked at least that good).

The Dino Delaurentis version is pretty bad. But both had the story down pretty solidly. I read the first book twice though it's been a heck of a long time now.

The new one coming out next month looks very good. Can't wait for it.

Need to see it again tho but the first hour and a half is virtually shot for shot the Lynch film. Parts of which were better done imo. The movie seems to be too centered on just the life of Paul and his mom... Everything else seems kind of sidelined. The Lynch film was over the top with woowoo but at least it went somewhere with the story. Sure it has good casting, cept Chalamet, and looks slick but its lacking something basic...

But he is the Kwistatz Snakderach! The universe's super twinkie!

Watched some movies and a TV show recently, one of which turned out to be a real gem.

First watched Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness on Netflix. Short 4-episode animated show. Wasn't too bad but it did have some technical issues with the animation. Next was Aftermath on Netflix. Was okay and this too had some pretty major/obvious technical issues (you'd sometimes hear the actor say something but their mouth wouldn't be moving or what you hear them say would not match their mouth movement). Also, it had varying levels of dialog audio quality for different actors. Then I also watched The Sum of All Fears. This was a rewatch. Still a good movie. The real gem was a South Korean horror movie called Gonjiam: Haunted Asylum. Found footage movie where a group of people go to a haunted asylum to shoot a horror "reality show" (just like in Grave Encounters). Might sound like a very familiar movie but the last 30 minutes are some seriously freaky stuff. Definitely watch this one.

Palm Springs 7.5/10 - decent version of groundhog day with a few jokes. Honestly could have been much funnier though given the talent.

My Lucky Stars trilogy (1983-1985).

Honk Kong action movies of this era should have all story exposition trimmed down to about 5 minutes at most, then just leave the rest as the action scenes.

The action here is solid HK cinema. The rest is cringey or boring or silly.

8/10 for action
1/10 for everything else

I disagree on that rating for Many Saints of Newark. Easy 9.5/10 for me and my wife. We went and saw it in theater last night at Alamo Drafthouse, absolutely loved it. Was absolutely fantastic.

I started watching it. Was ok thus far. Also Ray does the exact same acting in all the movies. For some reason he did not make the classic actor compared to his peers from his time like De Niro, Pacino, Joe etc.

Still need to finish so will rate it then.
