Metallica's "Through The Never" on Netflix. Kinda went on a binge, watching their 2004 or whatever documentary, the short 10yr follow-up, then Through the Never.

Concert footage was pretty cool. The parallel story was kinda meh, but still a good exercise in creativity. Not my thing, and no longer my type of music, but the documentary especially was worth my time. Nice to see behind the veil a bit.

I didn't mean he was a good actor. Just that it's an easy tell that the movie is going to be ****.

I was going to list Cage too. But it seems like he still does the occasional decent movie in between a lot of terrible stuff.

A Quiet Place 2- I was the only person in the theater, so that was kinda cool.
I liked the first one more- this one seemed to have a lot of build up, with no real payoff. 7/10

Watched the first hour of Black Widow. So far so good. So far it feels very much like it could have been a Disney+ series (in a good way)... smaller, more intimate storyline, lots of references to the Avengers movies. Looking forward to watching another hour tonight.

Finished Black Widow. The 2nd half was worse than the first... Alot worse. Very shallow characters, tons of missed opportunities. Not a terrible action movie, but definitely not up to Marvel standards. Feels a bit like X-Men origins wolverine. This movie could have used a few more drafts in the writer's room.

Watched two movies: Fear Street Part 3: 1666 and A Classic Horror Story.

Part 3 was good. If I had to rank the Fear Street movies, it would probably be like this: Part 2 > Part 3 > Part 1. Overall, really enjoyed this trilogy.

As for A Classic Horror Story, it was something like The Cabin in the Woods. Not bad. It's an Italian movie.

well, that too. There are a ton of b or even c-movie actors.....

And as for cage, i really can't think of _any_ "decent" movies with him lately, mind to point me to on? Last one i saw was "Color out of space" which was as terrible as it can get, really. It was beyond bad.

errr, how about no? Or to put it in a nicer way: i'm sure enough not one of them.

Most reviews were also mediocre at best. Even IMDb gave it a 6.5

The two I was thinking of were Color Out of Space and Mandy. I didn't particularly care for them (I liked Color Out of Space better than Mandy), but they weren't what I would consider terrible movies. On a technical level, there was nothing wrong with them. They weren't low-budget shitfests.

Now, something like Jiu Jitsu was a truly terrible movie.

I haven't seen it yet, but so far the response to Pig has been positive.

Rewatched the last half of Black Widow. Why? Let me break this down:
                              • Evening 1: Wife and I watched the first half together.
                              • Evening 2: Wife went to "ladies book club" (insert joke about cheating here), so I went ahead and finished the movie by myself. For further justification, see this relevant thread.
                              • Evening 3: Wife is sad that she didn't get to see the rest of the movie with me. I generously offer to watch it again with her.

The 2nd viewing was definitely better than the first. Some of the key plot-twists were just handled sloppily, and make more sense on the 2nd viewing. It's not a well put-together film... but works better if you already know what's going to happen. Still I liked the characters, especially Red Guardian. I'd love to see them flesh out a Black Widow trilogy that continues to fill in the gaps between Civil War and Infinity War, especially if they could get Chris Evans to play a supporting role. They basically have to, since they left a giant plot-gap about Red Guardian fighting against Captain America.

Still not a great Marvel film, but not the worst either. I'd rank it close to the first Captain America movie.

I think a lot of garbage movies have come out lately with poor pacing, budgets, cast that is just trying to make a dime in the pandemic and just outright not fun.

Also I never watched broke back mountain because I get my fill of watching gays in here.

Only thing good about Jolt was Kate’s voice. She is too old for tight leathers and you know the bad guy in first 5 minutes so… plus there is like two fighting scenes in the whole movie. Even 1 h 20 mins was too long.
