Been looking for a new dog for a while now, on a whim decided to stop by the County Animal Shelter on the way back from dropping Dad off at the airport this afternoon. Meet Brody (name not 100% decided on yet). Hes about 10 months old
Totally forgot to post pics of new doggo I added to the pack a few weeks ago. Meet Stevie, 3 months old:

Jack having real trouble getting up these days. His time with us is coming due....
So sorry to hear that, husky. We're in the same boat. Our terrier-mix is 18 and can barely walk, barely see, and has currently stopped eating. In addition to the other crap going on in our lives, we're about to lose this good boy.

they add so much quality and love into our lives, we need to pay it back with responsibility and care, which involves to be at their sides when the time has come to leave. It's always hard to let go, we all know that, but we have to, especially when they begin to suffer.

Beautiful dog Dave!...way to go.
Yeah, Jack is getting older, having good days and bad days, but c'est la vie. We all know what we sign up for when take on a new family pet member. Fun times, sad times, sometimes the headaches, but we all know a certain day comes as well. Always cherish your time with your pets. It feels good to know we are the best part of their day. It's an obligation we take on to make sure we're there for them when their days start getting harder.

Thanks guys. He lived a long and happy life. We got him as a rescue when he was 3, and he had 15 great years with us. I hated seeing him suffer at the end and I'm glad he's in a better place now. We buried him in a pretty section of our property, about 3 ft down so critters won't dig him up. It's always sad when we lose a pet, but I really have no regrets with Scamp.

Found out Saturday that my cat, Lily, is having kidney failure. She has lost quite a bit of weight, and now isn't moving much from the sofa. She still goes upstairs every morning and jump up on my bed to "wake me up" when she hears my alarm go off.
She doesn't seem to drink much water by herself, but if I bring the water bowl to her on the sofa, she tends to chug it for a few minutes. I know she's a bit dehydrated and going downhill. I'm suppose to be giving her saline solution via needle and drip bag, but doing a horrible job of it. Took too long for me to get use to putting a needle in my cat, and I finally was able to do it yesterday and it didn't go well. Bringing her back to the Vet today so they can show me how to do it again. I did get it in her last night and started to drip fluids, but I think she didn't like the feeling of the cooler water (66F). She started to yelp softly, then moan a little, so I bailed. I gave her some treats after, and she's perfectly fine, so I think it was the cold water feeling.
Not sure what else to do here besides figure out this fluid problem. It's pretty much my fault she's this far along since I didn't bring her in sooner, and it's on me at this point. Shitty situation. I've had her about 10 years.
This is Lily a month or two ago.
And this is Lily yesterday in her spot on the sofa. She use to sit on the top and look out the window all day. Now she just sits on the cushions on the blanket I put out.

Took Lily to the Vet Clinic today and they brought her in and checked her out (I'm not allowed in due to Covid rules). The Vet came out to talk with me afterward. We talked about euthanizing, quality of life for her and myself, and what would have to be done moving forward if she pulls through. We decided to keep her at the Vet Clinic basically in hospital care for tonight only and I'll make the decision at 11:30 tomorrow after he checks her again and does some bloodwork. They are putting her on heavy fluids all night and will attempt forcefeeding.
The Vet just called me and said she seems to be doing really well. She's taken on a ton of fluids, hasn't vomited at all, and is now peeing/pooping properly. He was able to force feed a cup of food and she seems to have perked up a bit and has a little energy.
It's obviously too early to tell anything, and I don't know exactly what this means going forward if she makes it. I was prepared for saying goodbye tomorrow. She was pretty weak, making pretty soft attempts at meowing and was starting to lose her balance.
