AMD Announces News Day to Inform about Ambidextrous Stategy [10/29]

AMD today announced that President and Chief Executive Officer Rory Read, and Senior Vice President and General Manager Global Business Units Lisa Su will host a news conference to provide updates and more detail on the company's ambidextrous strategy. The news conference will take place in San Francisco on Oct. 29, commencing at 1:30 p.m. PDT.

The news conference is for invited attendees; however a real-time audio and video webcast of the presentation can be accessed on the AMD Investor Relations home page: ir.amd.com. A live Twitter feed can also be followed at both @AMDUnprocessed and #AMDFeed.

A replay of the webcast can be accessed approximately 24 hours after the conclusion of the live event and will be available for 30 days after the conference.

If someone wants to fly me out there I'm invited to attend otherwise you can join the webcast and listen in for the presentations from AMD CEO Rory Read, and AMD General Manager, Global Business Units, Dr. Lisa Su. Read and Su will be joined by a special guest, as yet unannounced.

Is this simply in response to AMD's continued stock decline or this an update regarding ongoing strategy? Are AMD merging with another company? What's your speculation on the AMD news announcement?

I don't know what the big announcement will be, but likely just bad news on top of bad news. Hope I'm wrong, you know what it's like to be an AMD share holder these days?

Nope, I don't own stock in any of the companies that I review products for.

Interesting. Who would make a good fit with AMD if they are going to get bought out or merged with another company?

Could MS be a right fit since they are finally making their own hardware and plus they trying to compete directly with Apple with Surface.
