NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660 Ti to launch August 16th

Following the unexpected, unsanctioned review of the GeForce GTX 660 Ti by Tweaktown, we've heard that the street date for the new NVIDIA sweet spot card is August 16th.

Will AMD respond with more price cuts, closing up the gaps in the $200-$500 range their Radeon HD 7800 and 7900 series sit at now?

$299 seems solid. Given it's performance around the 7950, look to see it undercut that card just a little.

is Tweaktown gonna get in trouble for releasing those benchmarks?

No, they didn't sign an NDA with NVIDIA and they didn't disclose which AIB partner gave them the card, either. What will happen is that Tt will continue to be excluded from the NVIDIA press briefings and sampling program.

If Tweaktown has misrepresented the performance then NVIDIA might have grounds for a lawsuit, but seeing as they used AMD Catalyst 12.4 rather than the much newer and better performing 12.7beta to compare against the new card I don't see how NV could complain.
