Intel beats AMD to supporting their latest graphics on Windows 8

TechpowerUp reports that there are Windows 8 community preview drivers for Intel's new Ivy Bridge graphics processing unit. This leads the minor lulz-worthy situation of Intel supporting Windows 8 HD 4000 graphics, and beating AMD to supporting Windows 8 with their latest generation of Graphics processors.

    Lulz, indeed....

    a true joke

Considering how bad the Intel driver support has been for RELEASED operating systems, I don't think AMD or NVIDIA has any reason to be afraid here. AMD and NVIDIA put in so much more effort into making sure that their drivers actually work as intended, it is far better for them to not rush Win 8 drivers until they work well enough to be shown.

Another way to put this: Who cares about who releases alpha quality drivers when beta or release QUALITY is so much more important?

I haven't tried these out on my HTPC yet but it took a LOT of digging around just for me to be able to get a driver that allowed scaling in Windows 8 for my 4870 1GB card.

My point was that first to release drivers does NOT mean that the driver quality will be all that great at release.
