Just curious. Can these computers be overclocked? Not trying to be an asshat, just wondering as they have intel in them.

gj Apple. Only you can put mid range video card, call it 'top end', and price it like enthusiast rig.

But i do wonder what is the reason behind switching to ATI.

Maybe since nvidia still does not have a midrange card of the latest gen?

Nvidia has utterly failed to deliver what they promised for two generations of chips now, has had multiple generations of GPUs die in the field, and utterly lacks a viable laptop part.

Apple noticed this, and kicked them to the curb. Violently. At this point, Nvidia has to prove that they can deliver, something that even Santa Clara insiders are unsure the company can do, before they will be considered once again. From there, it is 18 months to 2 years, minimum, before you will start seeing Nvidia back in Apple laptops.

Insiders at Apple tell us this process has not begun yet, mainly because Nvidia doesn't have anything to show. The next part they will consider is the GF119, but Nvidia doesn't have that on the roadmap yet, and the process it was on was canceled.

Seems like you forgot to include the cost of the 27" IPS monitor, which alone would run $1000-1200.

Nvidia has really dropped the ball on this one.

Includes a beyond HD Display with out a Blueray Player

Only a Mac could do that.

Includes a beyond HD Display with out a Blueray Player option

Includes a DVD Slim Dual Layer

                    Slot-loading 8x SuperDrive (DVD±R DL/DVD±RW/CD-RW)

                    * Writes DVD+R DL and DVD-R DL discs at up to 4x speed
                    * Writes DVD-R and DVD+R discs at up to 8x speed
                    * Writes DVD-RW discs at up to 6x speed and DVD+RW discs at up to 8x speed
                    * Reads DVDs at up to 8x speed
                    * Writes CD-R discs at up to 24x speed
                    * Writes CD-RW discs at up to 16x speed
                    * Reads CDs at up to 24x speed

Other then that the price is fair to slightly higher on the high end system Apple. Did a newegg comparison and came up with 2,500k with the Dell UltraSharp U2711 27-inch Monitor being the overly price item at $1,099.00. Nobody would want to spend that kind of money with out having a high end CPU and GPU though. Course even with that you get a much better system on a newegg build. I used the high end parts, motherboard, RAM, Blueray burner.

                    Nice display for grandma though.

yeah, like production cost of that monitor is so high with kids slave labor used by apple

You can't home brew an iMac form factor.
