Comcast to Employees: Talking About Blocking P2P Can Get You Fired

    Wow...

In the wake of the discovery that Comcast is blocking some peer-to-peer traffic (and even blocking some Lotus Notes e-mails), the company is attempting to keep the PR machine well-oiled by giving customer tech support reps some talking points. And if they deviate from the script and admit that Comcast has been using Sandvine to send forged TCP reset packets, they're likely to lose their jobs.

    Reading the article..

Im sure they are/can get away with it. Ive been with Comcast, ever since they took over ATTBI (AT&T), with minor interuptions because of moving or whatever. Any other provider Ive tried in these times SUCKS major sweaty balls. Hearing things like this make me wish it wasnt true, however any options I have (basically any provider that has a broadband network) uses these same policies if not worse.

Two way street though. Here we are blaming the company thats limiting traffic, but on the otherside, we have companies that wont put enough "pipe" in the ground to carry it all. I know we've all heard about the government getting country areas hooked up. Screw that, make sure we have enough bandwidth in the ground (or air) so we dont have to worry about it. Bandwidth needs to be cheap, so any provider doesnt have to worry about heavy usage of any traffic.

Its sad that Comcast is cutting down in a heavy way the P2P traffic. Its a wonderful technology thats gotten a bad rap for various reasons. So far, the consumer isnt winning this one.

Hrmm, well regarding bandwidth, regarding Heavy P2P users, how many are using it purely for legal content?

Well, I mean I can see why they put 'restrictions' on heavy p2p users, I know there are lots of legal files to be downloaded, but from what I gather, most people use it to download non legal stuff...

The question is so obvious and yet I seem to be missing the obvious answer... with the ISPs selling such high bandwidth products, what do they expect their consumers to do with it? Cut of the file sharers and you're biting the hands that feed you.

I got a pair of tweezers, a can of air, and some bacardi :\

          yes it is

and upon further investigation on my own this is true unfortunately. Blatantly lying to their customers to make more $$. I pay for a service I am not allowed to use. The previous thread I made was wrong and I'm ashamed to say I spoke a bit to soon.

**** you Comcast. I'm looking at FIOS from Verizon.
