In their defense, the thermal pads are good enough for basically everything but mining.

In my experience the Asus rog Strix was the only one that didn't need aftermarket work. KAC my gigabyte did however. Maybe yours is a.different version.
Hoping the next gen won't need work after spending thousands. I'm not holding my breath though.
So are you guys also thinking market goes even lower until around September? Then they start printing again before midterm elections and claim they conquered inflation?
I need cheaper Bitcoin and firesale altsCURRENT PC:

I've only had one 3090 card (non Ti) which was a EVGA FTW3. That card ran memory in the high 80s and low 90s out of the box with just a 120mm fan dropped right onto the backplate.
We're in a period of high volatility right now in the general economy and I don't see it trending back up for a while. Possibly years. The volatility will be here while we continue to trend down. I suspect the crytpo markets will generally follow the same path. The timing of this is interesting too where we have the wheels about to fall off GPU mining completely and it hits an ice age due to the merge while valuations are also on a spiral down too. Perfect storm I guess.

Unless they delay it further we have 2-3 months left to mine. Then we're done.
The difficulty bomb will be impacting sooner than that and will move block times up noticeably which is also not good.

August PoS coming. It's always delayed so I figure a few more months past August anyways. Apparently July 15th the difficulty bomb gets serious and who knows what the profitability will be. Very bad. Since all other alts are down any PoW coin won't be profitable. Only speculative mining thereafter.
I still think the fedz try something without luck for November midterms.
I'm waiting for alts to drop another 50%++ before I buy someCURRENT PC:

Even with the price collapsing right now, the merge closing in, and the difficulty bomb about to blow up we aren't seeing any real big dip in hash rate. Not sure exactly what that shows other than we're going to slam right into the merge at top speed with no foot on the brake. Nobody seems to want to give up until the absolute end.
The bomb is a wildcard though so we'll see. That might be a tipping point and there may be an exodus off the network when it starts to heavily impact.
Not sure what the fed can try before the midterms anyway and what would be the point? Inflation needs to be reigned in and there is no choice but to keep pushing the rates up until it gets back in check.

High gas prices. I see rate hikes even this year. Anything for midterm elections. Only thing worse than inflation is losing the election due to a recession. I won't be surprised if they even start the money printer brrrrrCURRENT PC:

I switched off the small pool I was mining at and over to ethermine. As we close in on the GPU mining ice age I didn't want to be exposed to wild swings in luck and went for a steady return for this last month or two.
It's a gamble. If I stayed on the smaller pool (crazypool) I could end up with a nice luck streak right towards the end or alternately a bad luck streak and get very little rewards. I don't trust my luck with these types of things so I'm going for the safer bet.

Tore down my AMD 6000 series aib rig today and put the cards up on feebay. I have one 6600xt not listed yet and am not sure what I'm doing with it. May keep it or sell it to a gamer if someone needs it.
Still have my AMD reference card rig on eth right now and my 3090ti. Once I get the first reg settled I'll look at selling my reference card rig. After that only going to mine with my one 3090ti until the end of the line.
Glad to see they kicked the difficulty bomb down the road but at this point the merge is looking more likely all the time.
Was fun while it lasted.

Two 6800 XT cards already sold via offers. My nitro+ and a reference card.
Got two more up there now and a 6600 XT. Should have all that stuff sold by end of next weekend.
Got a 1600w gold power supply now that I'm not sure what to do with. Might just go ahead and keep it. Who knows my current 1200w might not be enough once these new cards come out later this year lol

1600w should run half a 4090.
I'm still mining along. $30/day now. Not going to stop no matter what. Cryptos are slowly getting into buy Zone.CURRENT PC:

So far I've sold:
(2) 6900xt
(5) 6800xt
I have one rig left with 5 gpus. (2) 6600xt and (3) rx6800. No plans to buy anything else unless I find a stupid good deal on a used 3070 for $250 or less.
I obviously lost money on the GPUs but I expected as much selling late like this. Pricing just going to continue down from here anyway.
I'll continue to mine eth on the last rig I have until the merge at which point I'm shutting it down until I can replace all my cards with super cheap 3070. After that, speculative hobby mining at a loss.

Down to 5 GPUs.
(2) 6600xt
(2) rx6800
(1) 3090Ti
Around 320MH. I have my last two 6800 up for sale but haven't really gotten any offers now in a while. Most likely I'll keep mining with them (and the 6600) until the end of the line at this point.
Still keeping an eye on 3070 used cards. Way too overpriced to buy any. Going for MSRP on ebay right now used. At about 250 I get interested beyond that no way.

Last of my AMD 6800/6900 are up for sale on ebay now and all I will have left at that point is a pair of 6600XT that I'm keeping. I've been taking the money from the sale of the cards and have been replacing them with 3070 founders editions.
For hobby mining in the future with the one rig I'm holding onto this makes sense. 3070 is good at ETH while it lasts and will be better at other algorithms once the need to switch off presents.

All my 6000 series AMD cards are gone.
I have one 5gpu rig left to hobby mine with and it's all Nvidia. 3070 and 3060Ti.
Waiting for the merge when I shut it down for weeks, months, who knows how long and wait out all the stubborn ones who insist on mining at a huge loss.

Probably some more downside from here to end of August.
Eventually gov't won't be able to make the Debt payments at such a high interest rate. Won't make much $$$ off people's lack of taxes from lack of profits in markets or from just plain working. Economy will tank.. they'll have no choice but to print even more money than last time and the fiat ponzie will continue.
I'm still mining exactly as I've been since xmas 2020.CURRENT PC:

I am glad I sold them 3070s and made back full prices for them.
Will take a loss on the 3080 Ti and 3090 Ti that I have but they still pumping decent money.
The last 3070 is already paid for as well.
So am about 430$ saved at current prices. Which is decent. Nicehash says I am pushing about 160 slaps per month. Which is still enough to turn a small profit at current rates. No point turning it off right now. Also earn rates have improved quite a bunch in past 2 weeks so better to stay while it lasts.
POS doesn't seem to be coming anytime soon either.

Little over two weeks until the biscuit wheels pop off the gravy train.
I downsized a while back and have just the one 3070 rig left. Currently stacking as much as I can before (profitable) GPU mining is over.
Plans after that haven't changed just some speculative mining as a hobby. Not planning on selling any more hardware at this point. Done deal now as we head into the dark ages.
