I am running 70% power limit now and doing 290 watts with 111 MH/s.

Sold my 3090. Waiting for 3090 Ti.

Also going to be selling my 3080 Ti if possible as it is also a noisy mofo even at 75% fan speed and hits 106 C VRAM. Can’t open an MSI card so this will have to go. Will buy a Palit Gamerock 3080 Ti to get the silence I want.

So pissed off with all the cards this generation!

The main issue seems to be the heat from gddr6x. Cheap thermal pads from the factory and backplates unable to adequately cool memory on the rear of the PCB resulted in temperatures approaching thermal throttling especially in applications like mining.

I was able to get my 3090 FTW3 down to about 88-92c with the addition of an active backplate hsf cooler. Main fans spun to 85% on the gpu. It definitely wasn't silent especially since I was also running case fans at 100% to help move air through there. If I'd wanted to do better it would've been a tear down and repad.

The 3090Ti FTW3 ran over 10c cooler under the same scenario and also seemed to be less noisy to me.

Really shocked to see poor performance from an MSI 3080 Ti Suprim X as the card is hitting 106 C VRAM routinely. It doesn't even have ram on the back and has 3 fans + its own 3 fans blowing directly across the fins in an open case. What a **** show and noisy fans. Terrible cooler.

Going to go for a Palit once I sell it off.

Been trying to update my two rigs but hive is having issues with their downloads for days now. Updating a kernel image 1.1GB over 50K/sec and having the rig down for hours is not really acceptable. Hoping they get this sorted out soon. Been taking forever.

Should you sell on a 5-10% gain? Probably not. Most people wouldn't sell.

50% though? Now we're talking sell territory depending on who you talk to. But as you are aware, the asset could always fly up 250% higher or more. It may, it may not. But the greed factor keeps a lot of people in and refusing to take a profit.

Look at BTC they say. What if I'd cashed out at $2000? See!!

Nobody has any real proof of what happened at this point. If it was some attack or conspiracy I haven't seen any actual credible verifiable evidence. Just speculation and unnamed sources.

Palit is such a beauty of a card.

My MSI Suprim X wouldn’t go over 102-104 MH/s. This Palit runs at 114-115 MH/s plus temperature are only 96 C VRAM and fans only at 45%. Amazing. That is better performance than my EVGA 3090 FTW3 and I haven’t even started memory overclocking on Palit.

For sure selling my RTX 3090 Ti FTW3 edition as soon as it is here and getting a Palit 3090 Ti.

What an amazing set of cards. Never buying another brand again!

Pretty much a complete collapse at this point. Bummer, but most alts are basically casino territory. We've been over it a bunch even projects that have a good dev team, been around for a while, have decent use cases, still usually just end up cratering into the toilet while some total garbage project moons 400%.

KAC the FTW3 card is just flat massive. Only bigger air cooled 3090Ti card I know of is the Suprim X.

Who knows. If the stock market continues to tank then it will probably continue down. How far is anyone's guess. I've seen people predict mid to high 20K on the stock market for the bottom and others think it will go even lower yet.

I have no idea. I'm just not selling at this point. I don't like to lock in losses lol

As for mining though, continuing to get what little ETH I'm able to mine before the end of POW. When I go to sell (some) of my GPUs they will be worth less than half of what I paid. That's what happens when you hold out until the bitter end haha

Easy 10/20/50x maybe on good projects when we buy at pennies. Didn't get rich in the bull run as I got in late, but damnit I'm going to accumulate during the bear run.

Well after 18 months of mining I can report:
Zotac 3070 sucks. 1 fan won't startup sometimes so I start by hand and it's fine. Lucky it goes a month before needing a reboot.

EVGA ftw3 3080 my first ever card had the plastic plate holding the fans fall half off. Keeping together with a ziptie.

MSI 3070 all 4 crappy plastic clips holding fans fell off entirely from the card.

So fans all sucking badly on 3000 series.

Otherwise not a spec of dust on any of my cards. All rigs kept in small room with a/c and airflow/ventilation in/out.

Few other notes:
Gigabyte is the worst and cheaped out on paste/pads. 3090 gigabyte eagle sucks because of it. You have to get your own pads.

The mining specific motherboards suck!!! I have a problem like other people it always drops one card eventually. Always n-1 cards work.

Best cards performance and heat wise are both 3090 Asus Strix. No mods, cool enough, high Hashrate.

Palit gamerock cards rocked. EVGA 3090 Ti is the only one that rocked as well.
Gigabyte gaming OC 3070 is dope af and ASUS dual KO 3070 was also silent.

Every other brand of cards sucked ass for mining. Asus TUF, MSI Suprim X, EVGA FTW3 cards, Gigabyte Eagle etc.

It won't sell at 4 grand. They can't be that out of touch with reality. Sales will end up speaking for themselves if they try that stunt.

I've run nothing but standard ATX motherboards and power supplies. I've had better luck with my MSI Tomahawk B450 than I have with my ASUS ROG B550-F. The latter sometimes fails to detect GPUs on power cycles, gives me the white LED and generally can be a pita. The MSI just seems to work and with the full 6 cards.

I've almost exclusively run AMD 6000 series cards: Sapphire, AMD Reference, Gigabyte, and Powercolor.

Zero fan failures in well over a year. I shut down and blast the dust out of my stuff every 30-45 days. Maybe it is just the 3000 series cards that have fan issues? Seems weird to me.

I have three 3000 series cards with crappy plastic breaking and fans are off..so just cheap Chinese quality. The cards are solid.
Also an old 1060 with 1 fan dead..

Who builds cards for $1000++ then puts in 2 cent plastic and thermal pads! Nvidia AIB is who

Completely ridiculous that the AIB won't put an extra $25-50 into good fans and top shelf thermal pads on a 3090 that costs $2000. Just pass the cost onto the consumer and save us the TIME of dealing with it.

Agree. They need proper pads and fans. First time I have been this disappointed with fan noise across so many brands. If 1 can get it right there is no reason why others can’t.

Another thing that boggles my mind is that EVGA charged 300$ for FTW3 cooling on 3090 and 129$ for 3080 on day 1. I really did not get that. It is frickin stupid and same activity was performed by ASUS, MSI etc. just to milk the crap out of GPU shortage opportunity. Completely breaks long term trust. On the other hand I didn’t see Palit or Gigabutt do this crap.
