In a couple weeks if they don't kick the difficulty bomb can down the road rewards on eth are going to start heading downhill even faster.
Are the biscuit wheels about to fall off this gravy train? Stay tuned.
I already have my merge backup plan ready to go. Shut off both rigs and let the dust settle. Pretty simple. If I want to mine some alt then I can test those waters with the desktop computer. I expect it to cost more in electricity than it is worth to mine as soon as eth is done and probably stay that way for a while.

The difficulty bomb would need to be kicked down the road otherwise who is going to secure their network.
What a time to accumulate alts. This is where the real money will be made once things kick off again in who knows how many monthsCURRENT PC:

Luna sol is the only thing that has made me mega bucks. Bought last summer during the long dip.. This is when you buy.
I have a bunch of others I won't schillCURRENT PC:

Alts just seem like a casino for the most part. I don't have the luck to succeed with that. The few times I put any money into alts or worse yet focused hash rate on them the result hasn't been anything to write home about. I'm definitely no good at guessing the future, my crystal ball is apparently made of plastic.
I have a little XMR, XHV and XLM. All 3 have been dogs lol

Monero I love but they're slowly being delisted off exchange. The whole governments want to control your life so they don't like privacy coins thing.
Xrp and xlm I dislike. Centralized Baker coins.
Xhv I'm not familiar with??CURRENT PC:

I get XLM from my coinbase card as a cashback reward. I threw a few hundred into it too, just to see what happens. So far it's been a loss but the whole market is in a selloff so it's not a surprise.
XHV is like Monero. Another privacy coin project. It's listed in a few places but also is in the dirt right now. Same reasons as the above. I haven't put any cash on it, just mined it.

I had almost that much until I went and sold most of my Monero. A part of me wishes I'd kept it. In the end I just wanted to pay for (most) of the hardware I've dumped into this and work on getting a little Ethereum before it's not possible to mine it any longer.
It's a purely speculative play at this point since I'm not selling or spending anything now. Just holding onto it and seeing what happens after the merge hits.
Building and running rigs is a lot of fun and with gpu prices down now and availability up it would be easier. Just doesn't make any sense to me though considering how things are overall and especially with the merge upcoming soon.

My portfolio turned into 2/3 Luna. I did a 20x on it. Was up more a month ago. Sol was a 14x that went down to 4.5x now. Ftm and VRA broke even at these prices. Then there's a bunch of low caps that I'm waaaaaaay down on.

That's the way. Get that 4090. It might seem like a waste but you won't need heating in your house ever again. When you think of it that way it's a bargainCURRENT PC:

Panic selling is how that went. Selloff currently still going hard as I type this. lol
Good opportunities to buy equities and/or crypto but I would be careful about what you pick up. I blew the last bit of liquidity I could afford to dump in the markets a few months back and thought I was getting a 'deal' at the time. Had that one figured wrong!
I'm still mining with my paltry 810MH right now but am not selling or buying anything. Just continuing along as-is with mostly AMD equipment until eventually the merge actually happens.

Wouldn't they have to delay it? What secures the network if they don't? Difficulty would be too high. People will quit mining or mine something elseCURRENT PC:

They won't have to delay it if they think the merge is close enough.
The idea is to get the merge done before block times get so high the network is slowed down significantly or enough miners quit. Remember if miners get off eth it would actually help delay the bomb further in a sense. Less hash would help slow the bombs effects.

Nicehash released a full LHR unlock miner from what I'm hearing in discord this AM.
Just in time to pile on some more difficulty with the bomb already starting to go off. lol
Rewards gonna continue taking a leap off a cliff now.

It says roughly 51 days left until difficulty bomb goes off.
It will slowly get crappier mining thereafter. I don't see the bear market leaving in 2022 so there's going to be a lot of hodlingCURRENT PC:

Seems I am locked at about 102-104 MH/s on my 3080 Ti. This is with manual tune since Nicehash quick miner usually locks to 100% fan speed which pisses me off. This is only at 260 watts power and a much better efficiency (about 0.39) vs. my 3090 which I run at 110-112 MH/s at 315 watts power for an efficiency of about 0.34.
Overall, not bad and if my 3090 sells today I get to pocket $300. Get the exact same performance in games and now technically better performance in mining while I also have a 3090 Ti on the way.
Only issue is that I will need to rebuild the 10700 in my Phanteks case since this MSI is too long for the tiny Xigmatech case.
P.S. I don’t push GDDR6X ram balls to the wall. I run my 3090 with a modest +400 MHz overclock and my 3080 Ti with a modest +550 MHz overclock. Since if I run like +900 I do get the occasional hardware error share refused.

My 3090s do 120mhs+ but I crank mem +1000 to +1200
I'm using like 279w or something so you need less juice.
Only the gigabyte eagle sucks balls and overheats so I keep at 114mhs or soCURRENT PC:

I like the Asus rog Strix ones best. ,80% and they use less power to start with and have the highest Hashrate.CURRENT PC:

Next Friday will be an interesting dev call to see if they continue on without removing the bomb or if they decide to kick the can a few more months.
NBMiner just released 100% LHR unlock so now you don't need to be on nicehack to get it. That's great the downside is the network hash and difficulty, which is already continuing to climb, will get a nice little bump in the wrong direction.
The bomb is probably the bigger issue though.
