Slow start but I'm gettin there... and linux question

I just joined up a couple weeks ago and, well it took me a little longer than I thought but over the past couple days I have added a bunch more machines. I've also moved up to rank 779 within the team and I also got my

    YAY!

Hopefully with these extra couple of machines I just added I will rise a little quicker.

One question... I've setup a couple linux machines so that they start folding when the machine boots up (even before login) but now I am wondering how I can check on them to see their progress, or if they are actually doing anything at all.

I've checked TOP and the Fcore or whatever is right there at the top using 99% CPU so I'm pretty sure it's working but I wouild like to see the "10/500" type stats... is there something I can type to check this?

On Windows F@H writes log files in the install directory and progress is recorded there. There probably is the equivalent in linux as well. You're gonna have to vi that file.

Awesome, I had been using finstall to install this on my linux boxes but I always pressed no to "do you want to install 3rd party blah blah" but one of the third party things is exactly what I am looking for. Thanks... Just installed folding on another computer... or two.

          Good deal!

I'm not using Linux on any of my systems currently, but plan to switch Supermicro back over sometime soon here. One of the main reasons I wasn't using Linux anymore was the difficulty I was having getting the damn box to Fold 24/7 w/o user intervention. Your question led me to do a bit of research, and it's nice to know there are some tools out there now that apparently serve to eliminate the problems I had when I was using RH8.

Please keep us informed of any issues that arise and solutions you find. We apparently don't have many users Folding under Linux, so you'll be a great resource for the rest of us n00bs! (I suppose I should just speak for myself! )

Well I don't know how much help I could possibly be since I really know next to nothing about linux... but I'll do what I can. As for Folding in Linux, the finstall process is pretty straight forward and if I did hit any snags they were quickly and easily remedied by a quick browse through the FAQ or install instructions.
