i made a few logos for Team Rage3D. mainly because i was, after about 30 seconds, tired of looking at that ugly electron microscope (Team Rage3D) in that ugly green. so i made a EM logo, i also played for a few mins on a logo for the teams main page. you can look at them / download them at

i know, im having some problems with the hosting... it wont let people download the files or something, will be fixed in a few mins, hold tight. k everything is good now. and i did read some of that post, but i hate it when posts get longer than 1 page, a pain to try and read.

personnally, i think hollowpoints are too large and a touch too quiet. but its not my call, i prefer mine, but thats because they are mine , i really think my EM logo looks nice with the program, but again, not my call.

thats not a bad idea. i think it would be better if the person in charge just chose one though. i made a few minor changes to mine, check them out, i think they look more, fitting now.

does anyone else think what we are doing is kinda wierd? ive never heard of anything like this before. i guess it has happend before with SETI whatever that is, but it just feels wierd, and suprisingly exciting. are we actually doing something here? or are we basically burning up our spare cpu cycles to see who can crank the most? i know thats the fun part....

weird? hmm, yes.

while the competition is one of the many exciting elements of this program, it is good to remember that we are doing this for a reason. i would also argue that the reason is better than SETI. the wh0le folding thing is explained in depth on the Stanford site.

the appeal is different to many people, but there IS a result to all these caculations. maybe our world will be a better place as a result of research conducted using the 'distributed computing' format. stanford also posts link to their research and you can browse their published papers.

are you burning spare cpu cycles? yes, but would you rather discard them out-of-hand, or use them to fold proteins for humanity?

fold on, lol, hehe, anyway if anyone wants to use my EM logo all you have to do is Save the small logo from my site and put it in your [email protected] directory. which should also be the directory you have EM in. make sure it is called teamlogo.jpg or else it wont work. you could in theory use any of those logos for EM but they might look wierd as the program would scale them down.

Too large? Whoa man, yours are three times the size of mine. Anyway, whatever...I already sent the stuff in to statsman to do the page. He's working on it now. I saw the thread, made the logo...at the time, everyone thought it was pretty good, so we went with it.


BTW, nice use of the rage3d logo, and the color scheme is nice, though I think I recognize it from somewhere...perhaps something original would be in order next time? Just a thought.


BTW, I believe that a logo CAN slow down your folding program...just in case anyone cared.

Are you saying that my logo's arent original? i will have you know that mine are just as if not more than the ones that you made. i tried to keep it to the same kind of look as the rage3d forums, which i kind of like. and by large i meant that proportionally, yours are very tall, and imho look kind of fat. these are just logos, and i didnt spend long hours doing mine, in fact more like 20 mins or so. doesnt look like you did either. when it comes down to it i dont really care if my logos get used at all, they are here to be used if anyone wants to, and if not they will rot forever on some webspace along with my other graphics that i have made for past gaming clans.

but plz, dont say anything i did is unoriginal. that kind of ignorance really pisses me off.

oh yeah, there is no way that a 2k image could possibly slow down a modern processor while it is folding. it is more likely that an icon on your desktop slows it down than a little logo.

Am I saying that your logo's aren't original? Damn right I am. Yours maybe close to mine, well hell, they should be, you basically copied mine. You used the EXACT SAME color scheme and the EXACT SAME rage3d logo that I did. You just changed the fonts and removed the slogan. You wanted to keep the same kind of look as the forums? Funny, the forums are blue, gray, black and white. The front page is blue, gray and white. In fact, the only thing on this site that is maroon, black, gray and white is the tiny forum logo, which we both used, only you did it after you saw mine. Your banner has nothing in common with the forum look, except the little forum logo. Face it, you basically copied mine, which would be fine, except you got all bent out of shape when I mentioned it. Taken from EM's FAQ...

My Team has their own Logo, How do I use it?

If you are a member of a team and you have a logo you want to display in the Team window, make a picture that is 300 pixels wide and 26 pixels high and save it as either a bmp, gif, or jpg file with the name teamlogo. The last thing EM does when loading the cfg info is to search for a file named teamlogo with one of those three picture types. While EM will size any picture to fit into the 300 x 26 pixel format, I would suggest not doing that as it will use more system resources and will probably look ugly anyway. Animated gif files are not supported, but you can set a transparent color… the background in that case will be black.

ok.. that is the epitome of what completly pisses me off, i had already made my EM logo before i even saw yours.. i basically copied MY OWN LOGO and made it bigger. by yours are bigger i meant out of proportion. i am no newbie to the web graphics buisness, i have been webmaster for many VERY good clans, a most of which spent a few weeks during their primes as "best in the world" (in quotes cause everyone is pretty much the same, its like pro golf). and of course i used the same rage 3d symbol, THERE IS ONLY ONE, and by copying the style of the forums i meant how it looks to me, i dont see all these blues, when i look at teh logo, it is red, so i assume that everything follows that color scheme. my brain doesnt click in that all these dull colors are not reds, and my eyes are drawn to the red so it stands out. (also if youve ever seen any of my clan pages, they tend to have lots of red in them, i like the color).

on to that logo deal, by "SYSTEM RESOURCES" they could mean processor power, memory, or GPU power. well my knowledge of computers leads me to believe that they mean memory, as it isnt being processed(it is but you couldnt tell the difference if it wasnt its so insignifigant) however larger images take up larger hunks of RAM, since ram isnt used hardly at all when folding, nearly 100% CPU, you have nothing to worry about, i think you understand this as you did say something to that effect at the end.

and once again NEVER TELL ME MY STUFF IS UNORIGINAL, you said yourself you copied [H]ard|OCP's image attributes, and mentioned some other team logo, i had not even looked at yours when i made my first rendering, after looking at yours i felt that i could do better in a reasonably short legnth of time, i believe i did, im not sore that mine arent being used, i already said that. i spent about 20 mins on mine, it looks like you did too. this argument isnt about my logos or yours, its about some immature newbie graphics artist coming in and accusing someone who is 100% original about coping them, personnaly i look at the two and they look nothing alike to me.... completely different layout. considering the small sizes of the canvases we are playing with is it not natural that they would look somewhat alike? i think so.

the new look of the stats page is definatly better than that ugly white green mess it was before, but i think i could do better. i dont want to get competitive though, and since it looks like my logos werent taking to by the masses im not going to complain, it only takes away from the good feeling that comes from Folding.

Look, I'm not fighting with you about it...I don't care what you think...I didn't copy anything...I made an eye judgment as to what most other people's banners were sized at...it just so happens that mine ended up the exact same dimensions as HardOCP's. I didn't copy the size down and scale mine to it...I just didn't want some giant, 'page wide' banner so I guessed at the approximate sizes the other banners ranged from...

Whatever, you know what I think, I need not say it again...I don't care.

And yes, my last post was a stab at an apology...no matter, it's all just what it is, over.

you both put work on the table, which is what i asked for. thank you both. i was looking for something to draw the team together, not split it appart over who's is better than who's. whatever, the important thing here is that we have a logo to stand behind. we can keep making up new artwork, and have a vote, so that all the folders get to chose the one they like. ie, not giving a @hit about anything but personal appeal.

remember the whole point of having a team page. we are all in this together.
