Button on side on Radeon 7950?

Does anyone know what that little button does on the side of the Sapphire Radeon HD 7950? I've tried switching it and I didn't notice a difference. Can't seem to find any answers online.

    The Bios switch?

Perhaps. So that switches to a 2nd bios? Is there something different about that 2nd bios?

It's so you can try other bios while still being able to switch back to default. Default they are the same.

On my sapphire 7950s when you press it in the button lights up.

Off is default bios and on is the 'boost bios' which has a default higher clock and memory speeds when playing games without you having to overclock the card. I think it adds a bit more voltage as well and seems to be more stable if your wanting to overclock.

I use boost in conjunction with forced on overvolting etc with MSI Afterburner.

I don't know what model you have but if it has 'boost' then it is most likely as described above.

Is it a button or switch?

The reference design of the 7900 series includes a dual BIOS, a factory default one and a user flashable one. This is designed so that people can try different BIOSes/mods without bricking the card, you just power off, flip the switch, reboot and you're on the original BIOS again.

sapphire hd 7950 dual x with boost issue

hi, i recently bought a sapphire hd 7950 with boost, and it doesn't work. When i turn on my pc the cpu vent spins for a second then it stops...nothing else happens. I don't know if it's something wrong with the card, the PSU is not branded but the same system runs fine with an HD 6870.
