    9700 AIW, TigerMP, and Fastrak TX2 - won't post

I have a tyan tiger mp(bios 1.5), a promise FasTrak 100 tx2, and a new 9700 AIW card. Unfortunately, the system won't get past post.

I've gutted the system so it has only the video and raid controller, and the system freezes right after the raid controller scans the hd.

If is remove the raid controller, or if I use my ancient AIW Radeon, it seems to work fine. I've tried the raid controller in every slot (especially 2 and 5, as recommended by Promise TS), to no avail.

According to promise, its an issue with ATI using up all of the option ROM, and not leaving enough for the controller. Unfortuantely, there doesn't seem to be a smaller bios available for the tx2.

Anyway around this? Anybody get this working?

    Thanks!

    Root Cause Found

For anyone else who may have this issue, I spoke with Promise today and they confirmed that this is a known issue with the TX2. Their suggestion was to move it around to different slots (didn't work for my MB) or get a different video card (gasp!).

They know its an issue, though, and are working on a fix for the raid controller. No timeline for completion.

I'm not happy that this isn't working, but I am very pleased with Promise tech support - prompt, courteous, helpful, and a local call.

I used a Highpoint 370 raid based card in my TigerMP for a while with my 9700. Didn't have any problems.
