    More bang for my buck?

I have an oppotunity to get myself a nice FireGL card for usage with AutoCAD and Maya but I'm curious about which to choose.

    FireGL T2-128

    or

    FireGL 8800

I know the T2-128 supports everything up to OpenGL 2.0 SL and DirectX 9.0 HLSL and the 8800 is more for DirectX 8.1 and OpenGL 1.4 but both have 128mb of memory. Which would be better more my needs? I have a 400 dollar budget too.

I currently am stuck using a Radeon 8500 64mb at school and so far rendering anything with great detail is next to impossible as I keep running out of memory on the card and the 64mb maxed allocated memory on the other side of the AGP bus.

hmm, prolly go for the T2-128 because because i think the 8800 is a discontinued product (though could be wrong), plus the T2-128 is based on the 9600 core so it would be better for games and more powerful for CAD and Maya.

btw, just out of interest what kind of things are you looking to create with Maya and Autocad? because im thinking about making a sticky where people can post stuff that they have created. Might be nice to see the creativity within the Rage3D community

I'm doing 3D environment developmental creation with Maya and Visual C++ 6.0 creating a realtime 3D environmental engine for a wide variety of applications for now where I work and I'm starting classes at school for AutoCAD in mid November.

The engine is going nicely and so far I haven't hit any major barriers except the details with textures, shaders, etc. My RAM gets chewed up way too fast. I'm using the 3.9 Catalyst BETAs (3.8 starting making things run wrong) forcing a 9200 detection with the AGP 4x 64mb Texture Memory Buffer enabled but it's not enough to make a dent.
