    AMD drivers for 8000m series

I have a Samsung 370R laptop which has a discrete AMD 8750m video card 1GB DDR3 Ram (Mars codename, CGN core). The latest drivers I was able to find for it are the ones on Samsung website, posted last December.

I looked through the inf files of the newer Catalyst mobility drivers posted on the AMD site (both whql and beta) and none seems to have any entry for any 8000m series cards.

Anyone has any info on this? It seems strange that AMD is not providing updated drivers in almost half an year for its latest mobility products.

I thought I saw them on the 13.4 WHQL release notes and the 13.5 beta notes but you're right, they're not there. I'll get in touch with AMD and see if I can find out more.

        Hi atiamd8,

Out of curiosity, how was the card performing even with the December drivers?

Not sure what cards or systems you previously ran, but anyway, from some benchmarks I saw well before Xmas, the mobile 8000 series was performing incredibly well compared to past generation mobile parts!!

I only tried a couple of games on this laptop. The most graphic demanding are RUSE and Wargame European Escalation. Both of them run great on Very High settings, but keep in mind the native res is only 1366x768. I can say the performance is very close to an AMD HD5770 which I have on the old desktop (but running at 1680x1050 and with a different cpu). Moreover, I find AMD enduro software very easy to use and bug free so far.

The few reviews I read state that current games will run at medium/high settings at lower resolutions such as the laptop's native one.

There will be a new 13.5 beta driver in the next couple of weeks which will have 8000M support in it.

I have 2 new issues related to the AMD 8750m card.

First: The latest preview drivers for Windows 8.1 (both V1 and V2) are supposed to support AMD 8000m series according to their description).

However, they don't. If you compare the inf files from latest 13.6 mobility beta 2 with their inf files, it is easy to see that AMD failed to include the 8000m series cards (such as AMD6600.1 = "AMD Radeon HD 8600/8700M", etc...).

If possible, please let them know so they can address this.

Second, I do not know if this is and AMD or Intel issue, but upgrading the Intel video drivers to anything newer than version 2932 results in conflicts with AMD mobility drivers. "MMLoadDrvPXDiscrete.exe" crashes, or app crash with "igdumdim32.dll error". This happens on Windows 8 x64.
There are multiple reports of this on the official intel forums:
                    https://communities.intel.com/docs/D...#comment-11562.

                    Thanks for looking into these.

You can ignore my previous post.

The new Catalyst 13.8 mobility beta include the 8000m series cards. Moreover, they work fine with latest official intel hd drivers (3165). Both errors I talked before appear to be fixed.

                          Thank you for your suggestion.

I was aware of that option, however, for Samsung laptops at least, the drivers posted directly by amd and intel usually work fine. Leschat drivers target mainly the laptops with AMD hybrid graphics which cannot use (without modding) the official AMD /Intel drivers.

As I posted above, I had the same error due to an incompatibility between the Intel drivers and the AMD ones.
While most of the games were indeed running OK, I had a few not working properly (Incredible adventure of Van Helsing, King Arthur 2 the Roleplaying Wargame, etc.).

I currently have Win 8.1 x64 installed, and the last 2 sets of Intel drivers (3345 and 3412) work just fine with the latest AMD drivers (whql 13.12 or the beta 14.1 ones). No errors regarding that particular item in Event Log as well.

However, as I posted in another thread in this section of the forums, the latest bios update for my Samsung laptop (in fact the last 2 bios updates) updated the bios for the AMD 8750m card as well. For me, at least, it was the combination of bios updates and new drivers that eliminated all issues regarding the AMD enduro issues I had before.

I don't know for sure what that particular file does, but its name would imply something related to AMD switchable graphics driver functions (some versions of it are called power express, others enduro).

Maybe one of the posters from here which are affiliated with AMD can look into this.

Sorry for not being able to help you more.
