The HIS HD 5870 iCooler V Turbo is based on the AMD 'Cypress' ASIC, part of the 'Evergreen" family. As a first tier AMD add-in board partner, HIS manufacture custom designs and variants of the reference AMD circuit boards and coolers. The HIS HD 5870 iCooler V Turbo is not only custom cooled, with a centrally mounted axial fan, but the core GPU and memory are overclocked out of the box, too.

The HIS HD 5870 iCooler V Turbo packaging is svelte and compact, not much larger than the card itself. The card itself resides in a clear plastic hardshell to protect it during shipping. The hardshell sits under a cardboard tray containing the accessories included with the card.
