Synthetic Benchmarks

We'll wrap up our investigation using several popular synthetic tests. Higher results are better.

Unigine Tropics

FRAPS results of rolling time demo with 8xAA, 16xAF, high shaders, Ambient Occlusion on. control panel Transparency MSAA.

3DMark Vantage

Average frame per second of GPU Test 2, 0xMSAA /0xAF 1920x1080 performance preset.

Unigine Heaven

Results of time demo at 1920x1080 with 4xMSAA, 16xAF, moderate Tessellation.

STALKER: Call Of Pripyat

Results of rolling benchmark Sun Shafts test, with 0xMSAA, DirectX 11 Ultra preset, HDAO + CS and Tessellation.

Aliens Vs. Predator Benchmark

FRAPS results of rolling benchmark run at 1920x1080 with 2xMSAA/16xAF, High shadows with Tessellation and Advanced Shadows enabled.

Furmark

Results of 120 second benchmark run at 1920x1080 with 4xMSAA and Xtreme Burning Mode, Post Processing and Displacement Mapping enabled.

AMD's Catalyst 10.7 appears to break MSAA support in Furmark and other community OpenGL tools (GPU Caps Viewer). This was easily resolved by taking the atioglxx.dll from Catalyst 10.6 and placing it in the application directory, but frankly shouldn't be necessary. NVIDIA still has the lead with OpenGL compatibility as such shenanigans are not necessary. OpenGL legacy titles work with newer NVIDIA drivers offering capabilities not thought of when the games were originally developed.
