Introduction
It has been a little less than a year since the launch of the Mobility Radeon 9600 family of mobile graphic chipsets. At the time ATI held a dominant lead in the discrete mobile graphics market with 65% of the market share. The success of the MR 9600 line has increased that lead to over 70%, largely at a cost to Silicon Motion, Trident and to a lesser extent, Nvidia and VIA. The MR 9600 had over 50 design wins from a variety of OEMs including Actebis, Alienware, Apple, Eurocom, Fujitsu, Fujitsu-Siemens, Gateway, Gericom, HP, Hypersonic, IBM, Medion, Multivision, Packard Bell, Prostar, Sager, and VoodooPC. Nearly all major OEMs have chosen ATI's flagship mobile product.
ATI has no plans of losing any marketshare and today they are announcing the MR 9600's successor, the Mobility Radeon 9700.
