This has solved my Pro/E Wildfire sketcher problem. And to think ATI techs said the problem was my dual Athlon Rig. Pro/E is smooth as silk now.

The only problem is that the "Reduce DVI Frequency" option is gone from the control panel. Does anyone know how to enable it via registry?

Thanks

It basically allows your 8500 to use the drivers for ATI's professional series cards. In my case Opengl performance was so bad in Pro/Engineer Wildfire that the program was rendered unusable. After much discourse with ATI's tech support they determined the problem was my Dual Athlon rig and not an Opengl issue as I maintained. Subsequently I purchased a $150. GeForce 4200 and my problems went away. Everytime ATI would release new drivers I would plug in my AIW8500 128 and hope for the best, needless to say, it never helped. I then found this thread and thought I would give it a try. Sure enough all of my problems are cured, in fact Pro/E runs almost as good as it does on my workstation at work and I even have full functionality of the TV tuner!!

If you don't run Professional graphics programs or don't have an OpenGL problem this patch is certainly not for you. But if you do you should definately give it a try.

And MUCHO THANKS to the original poster of the link.

Default Failed Win2k Installation

The installation crashed, had to change the .inffile to get it to work

Original: ATI Fire GL 8500 Video Accelerator=FGLRX,PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_514C, added &SUBSYS_013A1002 so it looks like ATI Fire GL 8500 Video Accelerator=FGLRX,PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_514C&SUBSYS_013A1002

Then It installed, took the subsys thingie from the catalysts.

Hi,

I tried your mod with my Hercules 8500LE 128MB. It didn´t work. After installing the driver correctly and after rebooting Windows 2000 asks me to install new drivers again.

Any hints ?

thanks

with new unified 7.88.4.1 drivers
to ALL

anybody have any ideas about, how to work OpenGL from subject on Radeon series card?

we change inf and ini files to add nessesary ASIC_ID for install on Radeons, change(hack) DEV_IDs inside Control Panel exe and dll files.

now: drivers work, FireGL service Started, FireGL Control Panel Tabs are visible, Direct3D work.
not want work OpenGL.

any proposition where find bugs?

New Version Mod for 9100 to GL8800

ATI Fire GL 8800 Video Accelerator=FGLRX,PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_514D
if used Radeon 8500 Edit to
Accelerator=FGLRX,PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_514C

Little reminder... FireGL cards were built mostly for high-level OpenGL CAD and DCC like operations. They were not built for gaming and such and the drivers are totally optimized for high resolution texture rendering in OpenGL. The contain the bare minimum of Direct3D support as well. The drivers are not like the Catalyst series at all. Also the control panel is very crippled in comparison to a Catalyst one. This may shed some light for Linux users too regarding the FGLRX drivers.

Although it sounds cool, I wouldn't do it. My drivers work for me and they were created for my card.

Hi Winit_A,

I tried to install these new drivers on Windows 2000 with your patches. Unfortunately Windows brings up a message saying that frglx.sys is faulty. After rebooting a bluescreen occures. Can you please make a new patch which is workling with Windows 2000 ?

thanks

Hi Winit_A,

I tried to install your patched drivers on WINDOWS XP.
They don´t work. Are you sure you gave us the patched files in your ZIP package ?

The installation process work without any problems.
But after rebooting, the drivers aren´t installed. Right click on desktop says that no drivers are installed.
Yes I changed the inf- file accroding to my card...

Any suggestions ?

Kintad
