Thumbs down Divx fullstream

Well, the new drivers brought divx fullstream with divx player 2.1.

I really wnated this so i went right and tried it out.

I guess ATI left the 'amazing quality video' out of this release, because the hardware fullstream makes MORE blocks (ALOT more) on the video than the software post processing does!

Dont tell me, another setting ATI f**ked up

Welcome to blocksville, home of ATIs fullstream

Yes I have noticed a very large down in quality in movies. Just checked about 20 different movies and all had blockiness/fuzziness which it didn't before. This goes for both DIVX AND mpeg. I just checked 5 mpeg clips and all had much worse quality than before.

when tabbing inn/out of CS Or using ESC key there is a 5+ second delay but no more hangups.

Else than that I'm very satisified, overall IQ seems to be up (The loginscreen for XP looked much more clean too, better 2d =) ?????) Games seem to run just as good, if not a bit smoother!

How concerned should I be that the check box to turn this option on is greyed out for me in DP 2.1?

I use zoom player so I can use ac3 codecs, divx player has always been buggy and lacking features for me. Tried out fullstream, noticed it seems like a blur on a grid, wasn't impressed, put in the ignore pile..

can't you disable the option if it bothers you too much? from my knowledge that is only for poor quality video streams.

My early testing shows that my penis does indeed get 25% harder when watching Divx porn with fullstream enabled.

I don't think Fullstream was ever meant to be any good...just a marketing ploy. Blurry as hell for me. Who knows...maybe it's only good on low resolution videos. I've only tried Divx so far. And The Playa 2.1 sucks ass.

I think Fullstream is just there to relieve the CPU from the processing. If you use it, you'll notice that it hardly uses any CPU, whereas the normal filters use alot. So more cycles for folding

This worked in 3.2 too. Why are ATI pretending that it's a new feature of the 3.4 drivers?

Press ctrl+alt+del and then check the performance tab for cpu usage when playing the movie with it enabled. If you're using anything less than win2k, disregard this message.
