Default Sniper: Ghost Warrior 2

So what's the verdict Rager's? Hear its running on cryengine 3? This thing seems to be slipping under the radar at only $30 preordered on steam. It releases in just under 20 hours.

edit - unlocking now. Game seems pretty fun so-far. Didn't play the first one, but from what I've read about it this one seems much better. I'll post some pics in the screenshot thread since there doesn't seem to be a large following of this game. Pics now posted.

I think the beginning is the tutorial level - Mostly you seem to be following your spotter and doing as he asks. Performance for me is solid. Much better than the OTHER game using cryengine 3 . Major improvement I see (other than graphics) is ballistic dynamics.

Something I did notice, seems the spotter's voice needs tweaked as you often struggle to hear what he is saying. Fortunately subs help until a patch is released. Again, the game does look nice graphically.

You can also stealth kill with both a knife and a silenced side-arm. Lastly, if you preordered the game was only $30. Considering Crysis 3 was $60, I would recommend the game if you like stealth shooters.

Cryteck probably made Crysis 3 DX11 compulsory.. the cryengine 3 engine allows for Dx 9. That is what I assume...

When I run the game, EVGA Precision reports "only" Direct X 9. Am I missing something??? I have everything set to "Very High" and still DX9. Anyone running DX11?

Messed around with it earlier.

Looks decent enough. The shooting mechanism is a lot more realistic, though I am going to have to remap my keys to properly get my breathing and targeting right.

The graphics are not proper Crysis quality, but I don't think they were aiming for thje best of the best of the best. It looks pretty good, but it's the game mechanics that make it. I just hope that we don't have the rubbish crap with the SMG's as in the previous game They were awful. Fortunately, the sniper bits made up for it

Maybe the publisher had a weird embargo date.

And maybe the gaming sites are overlooking it since it is a budget title.

People on the steam community forums seems to think that it is a buggy POS.

Right then. The game itself seems to run fine. The graphics are decent but not exceptional and I think I figured out why.

For some reason, I can only play on HIGH settings, not VERY HIGH.

/facepalm

The game runs smooth, obviously, and the overall gameplay is decent. The penalty for running is heavier than in the first game, but not a fan of the audible alert for when you are in danger of being compromised. Not sure if it's gone in the harder mode, I am playing "normal" right now.

Vegetation moves around, the water is meh but I am chalking that up to it being directly related to the graphics settings being stuck on "high"

Will report more as I play, but if you're into the stealth/sniper type of game, it's not too bad.

the first one was silly........
-had terrible voice acting
-water reflections attached artifacts to models ect.
-sounds were bad
-but the sniping was good

It uses the cry engine 3 but does not look good as Crysis 3

yea, you're right. I can change it to very high, but the setting doesn't seem to want to save. Reverts back to high when I leave the screen. However when I set the basic setting to the different presets it does change the advanced settings and they appear to hold. But I'm not sure if its transitioning the settings to in-game rendering?

couple of tweaks I happened upon. also it seems the motion sense trigger system works for the mouse also. could just be me, but when i pushed the fire button hard i missed the shot. reloading I slowly pushed the mouse button and scored the hit. One last thing, I enabled fxaa via nvinspector and it appears to eliminate the jaggies on the flora. Looks kinda nice also.
