Nice, I hope that they can now have larger levels again since it's coming out for pc and nextgen consoles.

That second shot reminds me of Dishonored. Even though I know dishonored is inspired by Thief.

Shots look good, but it's really going to come down to a question of how much stealth the game has.

They were not afraid of encouraging the player to use stealth in deus ex:hr, so it should still be stealthy.

They'll probably do some things that will upset the type of people that actively post on TTLG or whatever, but hopefully they can keep the spirit of the game in tact like they did with Deus Ex: Human Revolution (and not include outsourced boss battles this time...).

I hope it doesn't have prompts like, press F to kill silently, every frickin' 2 minutes.

Would love a "Press "F" to fart, hold "F" to fart loudly" prompt though.

Looks pretty but rather bright for a thief game.
I was a huge fan of the first two games and despite short comings even Thief 3 made a pretty good go of it.
Not confident for this one though. Hopefully I'll be wrong but I'll not be holding my breath.

I was thinking that myself, the indoor parts seem to bright but then the outdoor areas seem a little over saturated too.

As for the previous stealth comment, it better be damn stealthy that was the man purpose of the game.

Well its still early days, I'm sure they will pull it off.

Looking forward to it

I'm glad that Eidos Montreal is doing it. While it wasn't perfect, DX:HR at least managed to capture the spirit of Deus Ex. I just wish it hadn't sort of petered out toward the end...

Anyway, I should really play the other Thief games. I always intended to play through Thief 1-3, but I wanted to play the first 2 before 3. Unfortunately, for some reason I never manage to get through Thief 1. I always get to the crypt level and run out of steam. I've gotten to that level at least twice, and I don't know why I just end up quitting at that point?

While they are good games, the dated graphics really are tough for me to overcome in Thief. I don't know why, exactly, since I've played other games with old graphics without trouble, but in Thief it really bothers me. Or maybe it's something else about the game?

Maybe I should just skip to Thief 3?

i wanna bitchslap you for not liking thief 1, nagorak, but ill try to be nice

there's mods to improve graphics for thief 1. just go to ttlg forums.

if its not the graphics itself but the indiana jones type of levels that make up half of thief 1, no need to skip thief 2.

thief 2 drops those completely. its all stealth goodness in civilized environments.

your call though, but you would be missing out on an amazing gaming experience if you went straight to thief 3.

Its a bit to early to condem the game i think(unless it was ea making it) Besides eidos/square/nixxes have dont pretty well lately and they have the pc master gaming race seal of approval for the most part from me at least.

Using an ability called Focus allows the player to spot interactive objects like climbable pipes and extinguishable light sources. The ability can be upgraded to increase its area of effect. Focus highlights attack points on enemies, and selecting the right one results in a shove which unbalances them, allowing the player a little longer to escape. Stringing attack points together buys even more time.

Focus can also slow time, allowing Garrett more chances to pickpocket. every drawer in the game can be opened and raided; fingerprints show which ones are most likely to hold loot

as for thief 4, way too early to have an opinion.

No HUD at all though. Would be a kinda of an iconic element to drop. Also keep in mind the studio is in Montreal, which could lead to some awkward phrasing, or word choice, in interviews that shouldn't be taken to literally.

Simple, don't use it. Played about an hour and half of Tomb Raider and haven't used instinct once, not that it's obvious right away what must be done.

Thief 1, 2, 3 was written by Warren Spector and this game will be the first Thief game that he has not written. Warren Spector also wrote Deus Ex but not Deus Ex: Human Revolutions which turned out to be a good game. Maybe developers can succeed doing a nice game without Warren but usually when the original writer isn't involved the result often suffers. A good example is Sami Järvi (Sam Lake) who didn't write Max Payne 3 which in my opinion was much less inspiring than the two previous games.

He did? According to thief credits, Ken Levine came up with concepts and design for Thief and Rob Caminos did some more fiction. Sheldon Pacotti is the main writer behind Deus Ex. Warren was certainly the project lead of that game though.

It is not the same and it has nothing to do with focus.

Some items were highlighted just to tell you that you can reach, pick, them.
