Default AMD Catalyst 12.4 WHQL

It looks like Cat 12.4 is on the way. Here are the release notes. It can be downloaded from CB.

Edit:
It's officially out now (Thanks Danny Nissan).

I'm trying to find out what they mean by that since the release notes are always too vague, as it shouldn't be even fixable via the drivers. Perhaps just that vsync wasn't working for the 3rd monitor so there was extra tearing above and beyond what should be there. *shrug*

Here is the explanation:

We had an issue where the tearing was really, really bad (actual gaps occurred where the tearing was), and accompanied by bad flickering and not the normal tearing that occurs when you have different display interfaces.

*edit* what it actually refers to is the flickering due to the clock speeds not being correct in Eyefinity which caused the corruption which is now resolved.

Wow, that's really sad. Thanks for finding it out. That line at the release notes is terribly misleading and should be re-written.

As always good fast info spyre for those that need it.

LordJuanlo, is it not possible for you to use the same display interfaces for all three monitors? I know 0 about eyefinity, but afaik its about you mixing displayport/hmdi/dvi causing problems or?

Has the delayed CCC startup been fixed? I don't see that addressed in the Release Notes.

Also, Spyre or anyone, is it worth installing these for someone who's been using the 12.4 beta's?

Don't mean to start a flame, just pointing this out. Will we ever see anything of the sort in AMD driver release note in our lifetime?
Makes me want to cry:

Due performance, framerates went down to unplayables levels, only alt tabbing solves the issue.

Looks like ALL 12.4 official or betas versions have the same ccc failure to load on my system.. ie click ccc get a spinning cursor then nothing. 12.3 official is the last ccc that works.

caveman-jim - I think he was refering to ssaa/aaa in dx10/11 on non 7xxx gpus?

edit: also has the same hdmi audio passthru bug, its not detected in windows until you physically unplug and plug back in the hdmi cable each time on a secondary display.

My experiences with 12.4:

- CCC's "Overdrive" window was missing after installation. I uninstalled and reinstalled only the CCC -> issue solved.

- Skinner is right referring Skyrim. You have to alt tab to get Crossfire performance. Oh well.

- The crept-in bug of 12.3 that the second GPU doesn't downclock in idle until you open a game has been solved. Fast work, AMD.

- The image quality referring AF has been noticeably improved. I'm very happy with 16xAF now. Good job, AMD.

- SSAA (including automatic LOD) for DX10/DX11 games works fine. I checked it out in Crysis DX10. Outstanding image quality (flicker-free) and still playable for me in 2560x1600 + 4xSSAA. Well done, AMD.

Yep: the bug is still there that -in CCC's Overdrive page- the powerslider on the second GPU does not stick/can't be set normally. Disabling ULPS required.

On the positive side: this OGL version is newer.

My central monitor (I'm using 3 for Eyefinity) is connected to an Onkyo receiver via HDMI and I don't have any problems with audio, no need to unplug/plug back.

A bit off-topic here, but I'm happy to announce that I am now an AMD beta tester, and I think another two guys from this forum will start this new journey with me. We will do our best to reproduce and report driver bugs to AMD so that they will be fixed (hopefully) as soon as possible. In a couple of days I will let you know the games I can test.

I will be able to test games under Windows 7 x64 (and Windows 8 in a couple of weeks) with dual Radeon 7970s and Eyefinity. No 3D... for now
