Default OBSE for Oblivion Question

I am hoping someone here can help me figure out if it is possible to edit one of the OBSE files to get the OBSE_loader file to recognize an .exe other than Oblivion. The reason why I want to do this because shadows in Oblivion do not render correctly with 3D Vision. The odd thing is that renaming the Oblivion .exe to something like FalloutNV makes the shadows render properly in 3D.

I have yet to find a way to tweak the shadows in the game to make them appear correctly. I can turn of self shadows, which helps, but the regular actor shadows still look odd. I need to use OBSE for some of the mods I am using and it would be great to figure out a workaround for this. I tried googling for help but haven't found the answer that I am looking for.

Thanks!

Run obse_loader.exe with the command line option "-altexe <path>" without the quotes. <path> is the path to the renamed exe.

If you want to see the other available command line options run the exe in a command prompt with a "-h" tag.

That worked like a charm, thanks!

As a side note for anyone playing Oblivion in 3D, doing this not only fixed the shadows in 3D, it also made the water reflections render properly.

That's just stupid how renaming an EXE fixes that. Especially since I have the Steam version.

It would be nice if Nvidia would allow use to tweak the 3D Vision profiles somehow like we can with normal profiles under Nvidia Inspector. It's obvious that they didn't put the full effort into making this game 3D Vision friendly.

With these tweaks and the use of pahncrd's fixes I no longer have any glaring issues in 3D. I disabled the in-game crosshair and enabled the Nvidia crosshair instead to fix that problem. With Skyrim coming out at the end of the year I felt compelled to revisit the awesomeness of modded Oblivion again.

Here is a 3D screenshot of how the reflections in the water look doing this. I have modified my .ini file to reflect everything as shown in the picture.

Just right click on the image and save it as a .jps instead of a .jpg file.
